me i ll quit the hiphop tracks. i dont think i understand what you like in this spectrum...
i ll try the non-pitchfork part.

this here was once big in a very small circle of people.

Anteater - Again not my style, for instance the singing put me off, but it has some cool things going on musically. I especially liked some of the guitar solo parts.
Neapolitan - I like all of these. The first song has a baroque sound that I have a soft spot for (which is why Two Sisters is one of my favourite Kinks songs). I liked the second one best, because of the chord progressions and melodies and the subtle contributions of the guitar. The guitar on the third song was great too. It sounds retro, but hey, it works quite well.
Dharma & Greg - meh, dementedly funny idea but it can't compete with Somewhere Over the Rainbow. And the 'yellow alley'? I like the bad singing
ziggywas - I don't get which hiphop I like either, you gave some good recs though. But recommending hiphop to me is a bit of a ungrateful task of course. The first one has attitude, nice. Again this is talk-singing which makes for a captivating listen. The second song has a groovy bass, obviously. The singer sounds angry about something, I'm curious what the song is about

Melody's Echo Chamber - I Follow You the bass playing reminded me of Paul McCartney's, the fuzzy guitar outro reminded me of J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr) at the end of the solo it went beyond fuzz and started breaking up pretty bad - it was so bad it was good. The arpeggio from the clean sounding guitar in the beginning of the song reminded me of Jacno - that's why I couldn't post one song with the other.

I love arpeggios and syncopated finger-picking on the guitar, the reason for my next three.

Dharma & Greg - Most of these songs lack the aggressiveness and energy that appeals to me in this music, especially the acoustic guitar songs. The guitar riff of the verses of the fourth song was nice though, and the trashy lunacy of the lyrics of the second song amused me. I liked the first one well enough; the beginning sounds like an M.I.A. song. I couldn't really handle the distorted voice of the third one. I realized I like the verses of this kind of music much better than the choruses.
Neapolitan - I like this kind of guitar playing too, it feels mathematical. I think it's a little overused by songer-songwriter types sometimes but it's great when used well. That first song has interesting chords too. The genesis song is has one of those melodies which bend and turn in a lovely way, similar to that My Favourite song you recommended. I love Julia, I actually know a girl called Julia who doesn't like it, very frustrating
Anteater - You have a knack for recommending me songs that are not really my thing, but which I find interesting. They should have left the high synthy thing out, I think, but I especially loved the intricate guitar and the rhythm switch near 7:30

TBH I was kinda using you as a barometer of some music I heard fifty million times with some peeps I drank with when I started listening to all this trashy rap like KMK and ICP. I have this album imprinted on my DNA at this point along with cheap weed, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and my homeboy's fat tabby named Tiggie.
