Here's a complete album that reminds me of Joni Mitchell, in her best moments, tripping on acid, with Tim Buckley's backing band (circa 1969) minus Tim, in the studio...

Linda Perhacs - Parallelograms (1970)

First time I heard of her.

I have just listened to the album.

I can hear some similarities, though she sounds a bit more psychedelic, but she has Joni's talent.

Thanks.

Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo expressed on numerous occasions their admiration for the music of Joni Mitchell, such as this quote by Thurston Moore: "Joni Mitchell! I've used elements of her songwriting and guitar playing, and no one would ever know about it."[55] Additionally, as with Sonic Youth, Joni Mitchell has always used a number of alternative tunings. The band named a song after her, "Hey Joni".
I didn't know.

But also check out this 1991 Joni Mitchell song The Windfall–part of it reminds me of the 1990 Sonic Youth song Tunic!
maybe 0:10 to 0:17 of the 5:15 song

Spoiler for Joni Mitchell - The Windfall (Everything for Nothing):

I still wonder if this is a cover.

I never thought of k.d. lang to be like Joni.

Yet, as I think of it, both grew up in Canada's west, both got a fair amount of fame from the US, both played with styles, and the lyrics of the song aren't too unlike that which Joni would write.

Ditto with your last choice, insofar of decent lyrics—somewhat dense (for me that's often a good thing), country but not quite country—especially the human beat-boxing.

Sharp. Same with the other artists linked. Joni's influence looms large there.
