Default Plank’s ARC Pick: Powers of Ten by Shawn Lane

He was once a fascist little peckered mod but then found the courage to step down and now he’s a golf disc pro with big genitals

Plank’s pick is:

Powers of Ten
Studio album by Shawn Lane

Chula'd probably reach through my monitor and give me a hug.

That Whack album is a bit schizophrenic, but in a good way. Polar opposite of all things tantric.

Just post a pic in this thread. We’ll let you know if it’s ok.

Serious answer now that I have a minute: The only Frisbee in the pic is the dayglow one at top left. The rest are discs. Putters, drivers, and mids. This is just the back of my vehicle and I have quite a few more at home. I buy new molds for testing with my form and if they don't make the cut (ie. too overstable/understable/inconsistent), they get shelved or donated to new players, youth groups, and/or CTP's (Closest To Pin challenges which are little mini games within sanctioned rounds).

It's also an addiction. I need help.

The full album is on YouTube and linked in the first post. I doubt anyone will really dig it, but it's an honest and playful piece of guitar mastery.

Not Again - Just for a brief moment the lap steel/pedal steel riff at :08 to :09 seconds reminded me of Don't Look Over Your Shoulder by Steve Howe. For the rest of the song it reminds me of a soundtrack for a John Hughes movie.

Illusions - gave me illusions I was watching a John Hughes movie.

Somewhere in the middle of the album the keyboard gave me a flashback of Trollheart's Pre-fab Sprouts, and once again I was afraid I was going to be abducted into Church of Scientology by the end of the album.

West Side Boogie Counts off the song like The Beatles, does a Primus intro, and then he quickly switches gear to Steve Morse mode.

Powers of Ten Suite Reminds me of soundtrack one would hear on murder mystery television series from the 90s, or perhaps a romantic comedy on Hallmark channel.

Esperanto on this track I was expecting to hear a Christmas song by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Paris - The beginning sounds like a guitar tech playing a practical joke on Joe Pass by plugging in his Jazz box into a distortion pedal. The drummer on this track is having an identity crisis. Sometimes he wants to be like Neil Peart other times he was to be like Joe Morello.

Grey Pianos Flying they probably didn't use a real piano on this track, perhaps (I was thinking) they used a grey synthesizer with a piano sound, hence the name "Grey Pianos Flying." Shane is trying his damndest impersonation of Cliffs of Dover. Maybe these grey synths are flying over the cliffs of Dover -- both Eric Johnson and the RAF would be proud. Not to sound too harsh but Paul Gilbert does better at speed picking.

Epilogue (for Lisa) - he never mentions Lisa prior to this song so where does he come off suddenly having an epilogue for her?

Rating: Better than Satch, not as good as Steve Morse. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

edit: at first I said Satchmo, but I really meant to say "Satch" as in "Joe Satriani."
Shawn Lane is not better than Louis Armstrong!
