Re-mastered Greatest Hits CDs from classic artists who were huge on vinyl made up a very large amount of sales for a while.
Eagles, Queen, Elton John, Beatles, etc.

John's Greatest Hits has sold 17 million copies!
Eagles are 40+ million!!!

Ahh ok.

Seeing that 80s battle between madonna and mj brought back memories. Seeing nirvana in the 90s too but then i saw guns n roses surpassing them and i got mad.

Another artist that benefited from re-issues on CD. Dude had billions of songs to choose from and the estate was very good at packaging them in sentimental packages.
