Is there any music you hate?

Music and Musical Instruments that Many People of The West in Modern Times Might Be Averse To

1. organ music (people who don't like to go to church might not like organs: they may only hear the organ at funerals and associate it as an instrument of death… pipe organs are often subject of horror drama and Halloween)
2. bagpipe music (my father thought they sounded likes several cats stuck up in tree)
3. harmonica music
4. accordion music (my mother thought they sounded squeaky and certainly not noble like a pipe organ)
5. classical Indian ragas: westerners might ask where the harmony is
6. rap "music" (noise): sounds like a lot of loud beating on old garbage cans and records' getting scratched by a needle jumping out of the groove; completely devoid of art form or harmony
7. harpsichords: my grandfather said he liked the piano much better, they are thought of as dainty or effeminate by some, Lurch on The Addams Family gave it a rather bad image
8. classical music: where's the MELODY is a common question; you can't put your foot down to it Grandma once said on The Waltons; many young people in the West have been turned off to classical music since the advent of jazz, country-western and rock and roll; Roll Over Beethoven is a common line by rock song writers deriding classical music

I listened to Tom Waits cover Danny Says and I hate it.

Lucem Ferre 07-16-2020 06:57 PM

Don't we already have a ****ty opinions thread?

DriveYourCarDownToTheSea 07-16-2020 06:58 PM

I'm not a rap fan, though I suppose I can see the art in some of it. Other than that, there's no entire genre I dislike, though to be sure there are plenty of individual songs/pieces I dislike in every genre.

Lucem Ferre 07-16-2020 07:03 PM

I hope you both get raped by angry walruses.

Your citations are unassailable.

This is not to say that I myself don't like any of the music in the above categories. Quite frankly I would like to listen to a Scottish Highlander bagpipe marathon for 48 hours over just five minutes of rap. I have a ton of classical music and organ music and some harpsichord music. I forgot to mention country-western as a genre that I don't like too much. I'm averse to the yokel Southern twang culture. I like some folk songs though. I once played the Saint-Saëns"Carnival of the Animals" record at the school library listening post in the 6th grade and some other children thought it sucked. There was the opening movement of the lion, Royal March of the Lion with peculiar strings and piano tones.

Go ahead, do it.

This song is less than five minutes.

Method Man - Judgement Day

I couldn't find 48 hours of bagpipes on YouTube - time limits I guess, but you can always hit the repeat button.

I don't know. Asians tend to play (western) classical music and piano a lot.
The middle-east doesn't tend to like rock and roll.

"The sharif don't like it... rock the casbah, rock the casbah."

People of the West: America, Britain and Europe, especially western Europe

They talk about the "Latin" ethnicty but "Latins" (romance-language speakers) are western Europeans.
There is nothing particular "Latin" about the music of Couperin or Vivaldi. Spain is still a western European nation.

The West starts with ancient Greece and Rome. It's generally white. It doesn't include Russia or the middle east. It should include Spain and all Spanish-speaking nations of the New World to boot. There is this Latin American cultural divide. Latin American music still uses western harmony.

Whites include Greece and Rome cause it makes them look good. They don't include Slavs because Slavs are considered inferior. Spain is included but Latin America is not because of the Native American interbreeding.

Johann Friedrich Blumenbach was the German anthropologist who started using the term in a more broader sense for Europeans. He thought women from the Caucausus region had the most appealing features.

rostasi 07-18-2020 09:14 AM

Before it became "shoegaze", it was known as "klompenstaren" and
a creation of Dutch musicians who had side jobs as clog makers.

Neapolitan 07-18-2020 09:57 AM

A little known fact: the Dutch invented wooden clog so they wouldn't get electrocuted while playing the electric guitar when the tides came in.

rostasi 07-18-2020 09:58 AM

What did they wear on the other foot?

Nah, not so much white. Judging by the looks of him in that .gif I would say he looks sepia.

grindy 07-19-2020 02:08 AM

Stalin was not white? Goddammit, American concepts of race are confusing af.

grindy 07-19-2020 02:31 AM

Thanks for enlightening me, American Massa.

The Batlord 07-19-2020 03:26 AM

You're from Germany and you're talking about American concepts of whiteness not applying to Russians?

No, I don't think there's any music I hate

The German racial bull**** wasn't explicitly about the concept of 'Whiteness' though.
Plus he was talking about him being Georgian, not Russian.
Also I guess I'm not white due to being a Jewish Slav.

The Batlord 07-19-2020 11:19 AM

Could you please say "Nazi racial bull****" instead of "German racial bull****." Not all Germans were onboard with Hitler. There is more about Germans than Hitler and WWII - then or now.
