Songs you didn't know were covers

As the kids say on the internetz, I was today years old when I found out this:

is a cover of this:

I'll post some more wtf moments, what are yours?

I assumed this was a George Harrison-penned song until I found out differently. Original by James Ray.

I've Got My Mind Set On You

This may not be a great example because it’s not that well known, but for a long time I thought this was a Stones original.

She Said Yeah

Original by Larry Williams:

I didn't, but I bet all the kids thought this was an original song

Ah, bless! They don't know they're born, do they?

First of all, I knew that song (first version) but didn't know it was a George Harrison version! wow.

That's understandable, though; it doesn't sound like the typical Harrison spiritual/mystical tune.

I was really into Talking Heads' "Take Me To The River" when I first heard it, and didn't realize initially that it was a cover of an Al Green song.

I thought “Hanging On The Telephone” was a Blondie original, but The Nerves got there first.

Interesting, I always thought it sounded like some kind of standard, never thought what it was a cover of.

An embarrassing confession, until very recently I thought I feel the earth move was a Martika original:

Which obviously it is not:

(I only just recently listened to Tapestry for the first time, also had no idea she wrote (You make me feel like) a natural woman).

I may or may not prefer the Martika version. :o:

Yup, no idea.

Translated quite well into the 80s.
