You picked an interesting year, SlyStone, right in the middle of the psychedelic era, with the "Summer of Love" ('67) still a fresh memory. None the less, checking in with wiki, I find that some of my favourite artists were either idle, or not coming up with their best in '69.
(Also, Honorary Mention to Simon & Garfunkel, who spent '69 recording Bridge over Troubled Water, but missed Sly's deadline because the album wasn't released until 26 days into the next year.) I'm going to play my Boomer card because, unlike Norg, I was regulary buying albums in '69, so I have two lists, both of which are in As-I-Thought-Of-Them order:- Albums I liked at the time:- 1. Pink Floyd - Ummagumma 2. John Fahey -The Yellow Princess 3. Pentangle - Basket of Light 4. Frank Zappa - Hot Rats 5. Nick Drake -Five Leaves Left 6. Captain Beefheart - Tout Mask Replica 7. Bob Dylan - Nashville Skyline 8. Original London Cast - Hair 9. Wendy* Carlos - The Well-Tempered Synthesizer (* known as Walter '69 ) 10. Quintessence - In Blissful Company Albums I discovered later in life:- 1. Boz Scaggs - Boz Scaggs 2. Miles Davis - In A Silent Way 3. Isaac Hayes - Hot Buttered Soul 4. Neil Young - Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere 5. Kevin Ayers - Joy Of A Toy 6. Renaissance - Renaissance 7. Moondog - Moondog 8. Clark-Hutchinson - A=MH2 9. Third Ear Band - Alchemy |
