Alicia Keys. All-day every day. When I first heard "Fallin'" I might have audibly said "what the **** is this?" in a good way.

Sade, Billie Holiday
Also, I recently stumbled upon Billie Eilish's cover of Julie London's "I'm In The Mood For Love", she's really talented, happy to see real talent in younger generations.

With a name like Laura Lee I wouldn't be surprised if Superman dated her.

Barbara Lynn playing a Fender Esquire with a thumb pick.

My favorite singers are Marilyn McCoo and Dionne Warwick but (I suspect some will feel) they fall more in Pop side than Soul. They could often sing with a soulful twist -- depending on the song. I think Carla Thomas and Gladys Knight deserve to be mentioned too.

Might also mention some other great singers such as Irma Thomas, Dee Dee Warwick (Dionne's sister), and Martha Reeves among others.

Hey, does early R&B count? I really love this one
