Well I gave it a listen. A few listens in fact. The arrangements are extremely expressive and emotive. The variation too, between the tracks is amazing. Trumpets, saxophones and trombones just melting into a sweet cacophony of aural bliss. My mind felt wonderfully lost listening to this, as great jazz fusion should be. There's this constant sense of suspense and anticipation I get listening to this, like the music half the time is just teetering on the periphery of a precipice, and at any second it could explode and take an intense plunge off the cliff face - and it often does. This is a big band - a big beautiful jazz band, working in synchronicity and harmonizing beautifully with each other. In tandem, the music explores ideas and moods and does so while sounding completely refined and purposeful. Oh, and by the way, can I just say - the percussion on this album is a complete trip. A little over halfway through the sixth track, and the percussion is bouncing and sparkling from my left ear to my right ear back to my left ear with that beautiful stereo sound, daring me to even consider not digging what they're dishing - and I can't resist the draw.

Despite its theatrics and showmanship, its applications are variable. I could easily see this being a backdrop for a broadway play - or even the running music of a "silent movie" - as a bank robber attempts to make his getaway, and the police dutifully pursue - as the drumming intensifies and the horns blare. If Barney the Dinosaur and H.R. Pufnstuf teamed up to defeat the Wizard of Oz, this could very well be the soundtrack.

Great choice Marie, and thanks for introducing me to this. I'll have to check out more of their work.

Congratulations on an enthusiastic review and a great listening experience, SGR ! You clearly got more out of the album than any of us, with the possible exception of Marie Monday. I wish I knew (a) the specifications of your audio equipment and (b) the name of the guy who sold you the drugs
