Default Gandalf

No, not that one! Well, yeah, to be fair, he does look like a crazy, drugged-out version of the Grey Wanderer, and even his Wiki page gets confused, saying he is most famous for forming the fellowship of the Ring (!) but in reality he's an Austrian new-age composer, multi-instrumentalist who has a great affinity for nature and uses a lot of natural sounds in his music. You've probably never heard of him, (well, all except Rostasi, who probably Zooms with him regularly!) but if you like ambient, relaxing, soothing music with a natural twist then you could do worse than listen to any of his over thirty albums - he's been making music since 1981.

Oh, man. I thought this was going to be about the psychedelic band that released an album in 1969. Oh, well, anyway...

Don't lie: you had your lembas all packed up and ready to go for the trip to Mount Doom, didn't you?

Yeah, I was thinking that too. There was actually a second album released in the naughty-naughts.

No, it's just that Stobl wouldn't be a person I would associate with you -
or actually anyone that I know really on any forum or in person. Even a friend
who got hooked on the icky syrup of new age schmaltz in the 80s who's still
married to that cloudheadedness wouldn't be someone I'd think would listen
to that treacle. A slightly obscure psych band from the 60s? - yeah, maybe,
but this butterhead? Nuh-uhh. (Link doesn't seem to work, but, I know).

Not entirely sure what you have against him, but whatever. I just like his music and his attitude.

• His "name" is Gandalf.

• I'm not a fan of Quease-in-Art.

He's got an album listing that almost rivals Buckethead. lol I kid, but I might have to give Gallery of Dreams a listen. Anything with Steve Hackett on it has to be at least worth a session or two.

Yes, Steve Hackett is all kinds of amazing - so I'll be checking out Gallery of Dreams as well. I'd also be interested in finding out which of Gandalf's releases feature sitar.
