Wow, nothing alike, but call it what you will. I love ATDI and the split bands, but Motion City is not my cup of tea.

At The Drive In breaking up was one of the greatest things that could happen in music IMO...and for all TMV fans out there as well...and the reason i read that they broke up was that ATDI was holding Cedric back from what he really wanted...He didnt wanna be Labelled as just "punk" or "emo" or "hardcore" ....
he thought that it should encompass many different genres and be even more progressive, alternative, and "against-the-grain"...cedric and Omar went to form The Mars Volta...easily one of my favourite bands right now

True, I saw them on maybe Conan and they weren't good at all, but the setup for most bands on the tonight shows usually suck so maybe it wasn't their fault.

Anyway, both are good bands, but neither are really emo. MCS is pop, or pop-punk and I guess ATDI is post-hardcore.

the Conan show shoulnd't be what you base your judgement of MCS off of. They were clearly nervous, justin got out of breath at one part, and the moog was turned up too loud, so there were just some minor problems.

ATDI are great, but I'm really disappointed with the bands they went on to form. I've never heard any Motion City Soundtrack, and I don't really want to.
