they're releasing a new dvd/cd thing with victory records again? that seems odd after all that bad juju that happened in the past.

acratertocoffin 04-22-2008 08:43 AM

They're not doing anything with Victory again. They did stuff with the DVD so they could use songs from Full Collapse. They talk about it briefly in the interview I just did with them. I'll be editing it today.

knivesoutbaby 04-22-2008 11:28 AM

so everything here Victory Records - Thursday is victory records bs then?

sleepy jack 04-22-2008 12:54 PM

That's not really what he was saying at all...The only reason they did something with Victory is because Victory has the rights to the songs from Full Collapse which they wanted to use.

tyrannobear 04-22-2008 01:03 PM

ah, so then victory decided to be asses and make it sound like Thursday is working with them all over again, when really its just releasing one thing.

Victory is one giant ass.

Exactly, and this happened months ago. This was a one time thing so that both sides could talk about the crap that happened between the two. Thursday isn't signed at the moment. They're working on the Envy thing with Temporary Residence and are looking for a new label once that is done.

bardonodude 04-23-2008 12:10 AM

they should go diy

acratertocoffin 04-23-2008 07:48 PM

Thursday interview

Night of the Living Fred

We talked about the final You and I show, work with Victory, the Envy split, producing My Chemical Romance's first album, his favorite superhero, his new grindcore project, and a lot more.

bardonodude 04-23-2008 08:47 PM

awesome interview thanks =), howd you know about the final you & I show?

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 04-23-2008 08:58 PM

which dude? jacob bannon?

acratertocoffin 04-23-2008 09:48 PM

He says it's like a grindcore version of the Gorillaz. Ben from Converge is the drummer.

bardonodude 04-23-2008 10:17 PM

from what I heard, it doesnt sound anything like grindcore lol

tyrannobear 04-24-2008 10:22 AM

"Thursday on a thursday!"

Funny he said that, because I've said it every time I saw them live on a thursday.

And wtf, Havok? Srsly? Havok is cool, but hes not favourite superhero status. He's way better than his brother Cyclops. That guy is just a douche. Anyone else really into Marvel comics other than me? No?...okay:[

When we interviewed Kevin Devine he was really into Black Bolt and was getting into all of the social questions posed by the use of Xavier and Magneto as non violence and violent activism (Martin Luther King and Malcolm X respectively). Remi from Arsonists Get All the Girls loves Deadpool and Gambit.

The superhero question gets some great responses.

I love hearing stuff like this. Comics and musicians go hand in hand:love:

Epitaph Records: Video Player - Thursday - Tarbox

Alfred 11-26-2008 12:28 PM

I hadn't really listened to Thursday before I heard the Thursday/Envy split, but that split is really epic.

I think I'll have to check out more by them.

i'd say you'd be disappointed because that split is the best thing they've ever done but you'll probably like their stuff anyways

Alfred 11-26-2008 05:05 PM

Is there a good album in particular?

well i like waiting, their first album the best (besides the envy split)

but i'd say go for full collapse or war all the time

bardonodude 11-26-2008 11:49 PM

waiting has always been my favorite album, zomg, someone else is listening to I Hate Myself :)

Astronomer 11-27-2008 03:09 AM

I remember buying 'War all the Time' when I was about sixteen and absolutely loving it. I haven't listened to it for years though and not sure if I would still like it, nor have I checked much else out by Thursday.

What are their more recent albums like in comparison to War all the Time?

xcult_classicx 12-06-2008 05:15 PM

a city by the light divided- horrible
split with envy- pretty good

Rubber 12-07-2008 09:55 PM

kill the house lights:
new songs - not that great
live versions of old songs - ok
DVD - pretty good

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 01-16-2009 12:53 AM

new album "common existence" leaked, just over a month early

pm if you want it

kevinpunx 01-16-2009 06:43 AM

is it any good?

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 01-17-2009 02:31 AM

its better than a lot of their other stuff i guess... its not great

apparently the first song has the dude from rise against as guest vocals.. i didnt hear it but thats pretty ****in weak

i havent listened to the whole album yet but it seems to be much less post rock influenced than their side of the envy split

kevinpunx 01-17-2009 05:37 AM

much better than "a city by the light divided"

I'd like to hear it, if you don't mind.

I haven't even heard their split with Envy yet, it's a shame.

swim 01-17-2009 01:47 PM

Envy split is pretty good but I also dig War All the Time.

Rubber 01-17-2009 06:42 PM

This turned out better than I thought it might.

simplephysics 01-18-2009 11:01 AM

Yea, I'm really liking it too.

Rubber 01-18-2009 11:11 AM

Still cannot stand Resuscitation of A Dead Man though.

swim 02-16-2009 05:55 PM

Common Existence feels like a step backwards. I rather listen to War All the Time.

xcult_classicx 02-16-2009 09:08 PM

thursday broke up after war all the time and got back together for the envy split and now, they're on hiatus. DON'T QUESTION ME. IT'S TRUE. i wish, haha. seriously though, i want them to get back to their screamo roots. the War All The Time era sound was awesome and anything before that too.

Rubber 02-16-2009 10:20 PM

waiting 2.0 please

crash_override 02-22-2009 05:44 PM

War All The Time was their best album. Along with Full Collapse, new stuff is good though.
