The Jon Benet
Gates4brainS (10:37:45 PM): do you have any Jonbenet lol?
alaskan arson (10:37:54 PM): nope Gates4brainS (10:37:59 PM): oh dude alaskan arson (10:38:02 PM): while you're at it lemme send all the *** i have alaskan arson (10:38:04 PM): oh wait alaskan arson (10:38:10 PM): i don't have ***. Or Jon Benet I'm quoting myself. To prove a point. This band sucks. |
You suck.
Oh & its Jonbenet, no space. |
I like them for now, but am waiting for full confirmation on the new cd which should be out very soon. Eating lightning pt. 2 sounds pretty sick though.
And its The Jonbenet. With a "The" in front of it. |
I know theres a the, but he already had that part right. I was correcting the one original error in it.
|
whats wrong with the jonbenet?
|
They're not metal.
And Ian, you like rufio and the early november. /end of EDIT: and sunn o))) |
Ian is too metal for us now that he cut his hair. Nu-metal.
|
wtf greg asked for that? I'm gonna scold him. He should know better.
band sux. get fukd. |
Quote:
But not really. Rufio and TEN own. Deal. Anything else? uhhh oh see my reasoning for why heavy heavy low low sucks. That's why these guys aren't good either. |
I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe any band that uses this as a song line "hello how are you? like your shoes love your hair" owns.
|
There is nothing wrong with them
The band is not being run by the "scene" Although I might agree with that statement on some Grind and Hardcore music I don't agree with The Jonbenet |
to Ethan: Hell yeah. I love lyrics like that
to Snickers: It all depends on the area you live in. You might have gotten lucky. Where me and Adam (beat yr own kid) live, it's festering with scene kids into the latest "heavy" band. The JonBenet rip off #12, who rip off real grind. A mimic or a "mimic" makes for some piss poor music. |
Now The #12, I agree with you on that.
I don't really see The Jonbenet ripping a lot of **** off #12 though, I just think that's the way screamo has influenced metal and vice-versa. It doesn't mean it's part of the "scene" just because genres mingle. P.S. I never knew you were on SMN. |
The Jonbenet don't sound a thing like #12.
If you were going to say that they rip off a band, the best one to choose would be The Fall of Troy. |
Quote:
and I say #12 rip offs in a broad sense. the vocals line up. that moaning/singing. |
I can hear how they would sound like #12. They're lame none the less.
SMN FTW |
Number 12 has the most screamo influences of any grind/metal band I listen too. The scene where I live isn't into them because they don't have those easy listening vocals breaking up the heavy spots. Instead they use real screamo dynamics (at least in some songs), which really makes them stand out to me.
The Jonbenet is more of a straight up screamy hardcore/metal band to me. It's not easy to draw parallels, seeing as how their approaches to song construction aren't at all alike. |
going to see them, I hear they put on quite the show.
|
I can just see the guys in the band sitting around listening to #12 going "yeah, let's do it like that so we can be like #12, and let's take that part out cause it's not #12ish enough".
Wait. No I can't. |
I've heard 2 songs by the JonBenet. And both of them took the vocal dynamic that #12 had. the singsong/half scream and the full on high scream.
Musically, you're right, there isn't much similarity of the guitar parts. I still see/hear the similarity however. |
So i just recycled through some songs and can see where you get #12 singing similiarity (in a way) but only for some songs.
I think the genre has you turned off. |
Maybe.
Odds are the fans helped in that respect. oh well *goes back to listening to At The Gates - The Red In The Sky Is Ours* |
Haha, those are most likely the odds.
P.S. I'm not on SMN but I read around that site a lot, pretty good stuff in the forums, useful. |
I think the Jonbenet has the tendancy to do clean vocals and group chants. Number 12 is almost all screaming, and they incorporate lots of differnent style of screams into their music, which I suppose is the greater benefit of having two vocalists. I also hear a lot more jazz and older metal influences in Number 12, rather than The Jonbenet who go for that southern rock/hardcore feel.
|
I never listened to The JonBenet
