Screamo: A Dying Style?
 

I have not heard a truly progressive or original screamo band since...well since forever pretty much. There is all these threads on Screamo bands that all sound the same. Octave chords, scream/sing overlaps. Introspective lyrics that are usually obscure with weird refrences. The most boring drumming ever.

I think people need to stop making more Screamo albums unless they're going to do something new.

I never saw the big deal in having an especially unique sound. As long as the songwriting is solid I'm buying. I hear plenty of different things. Some sounds more common than others but still.

i agree that it's time for this genre to progress a bit..but, for those who like that song...yeah cuz its all like one song...its great, lol! But no, some bands put their own unique twist on it but in general its been abit repetitive for a while now.

its a difficult genre to progress... as anything slightly different from the original sound is named as something else!

To me it has always sounded quite alike. But maybe that's just because I don't like the genre that much.

There are only a few touring screamo bands still around. Ampere, ctts, hot cross and uhhhh I don't remember any more. Haven't seen em in a while.

Why do you guys want Screamo to die, with out Screamo you wouldn't have alot of great bands such as Chiodos, Sasosin, or Aiden. It's just makeing the mainstream and only getting bigger. I'm not happy about it getting bigger than ppl will dress the same and listen to the same stuff it'll get annoying real fast. But I'm glad it's getting recognition

Of course they are. Listen to Saosin's Voices, Chiodos Baby You Wouldn't Last A Second Out On The Creek, and Aiden's Die Romantic. They might not be Screamo to some if you listen to the songs there are totally screaming through the whole thing. Face it with out Screamo we wouldn't have Underoath.:hphones:

UnderOATH started out as a metal band. I really don't think screamo played a huge roll in their music.

Now they're just shitty scene music, you don't know crap about screamo. Read the education thread.

LISTEN darling Underoath never started out as Metal cause I grew up near them in Florida and heard them when no one else ever did...If you think they sound ****ty tell that to the thousands of fans they have. Number one I know more about Screamo than you cause I grew up listening to it

OK dude or chick what ever you are the first bands that I know are Envy, Orchird, and Saetia that's off the top of my head. And I have in fact heard Underoath first album and it was Freakin awsome. We're only Chasing Safety was by far there best because of the song It's Dangerous Buisness Walking Out Your Front Door and Reinventing Exits.:usehead:

How can you say such a cookie-cutter album is their best? It seems like you're just another random scene kid who pretends he knows what he's talking about, but is just as lacking in knowledge as the stupid kid in the Norma Jean shirt hardcore dancing next to him at the local garage shows. Please, please, please, cultivate a better taste in music before insulting anyone, let alone name-dropping big name screamo bands to make yourself seem like you know something about the genre.
