new hot cross

is really good

tdoc210 02-21-2007 09:09 PM

i was going to order it, but i didnt, i heard some of the new songs on their myspace , I like Cyronics better.

chickendude 02-21-2007 10:33 PM

I don't like Hot Cross.

can_i_say 02-22-2007 07:21 AM

Risk Revival is awesome. I'd say it's more a post hardcore album than screamo.

The Dave 02-22-2007 08:23 AM

I like it, not their best but worth the purchase.

beat yr own KID 02-22-2007 10:06 PM

They're the emo iron maiden.

bardonodude 02-24-2007 09:37 AM

Risk Revival is an awesome album, for me though its all about Fair Trades and Fairwells.

swim 02-24-2007 09:44 AM

It's more of the same. I was hoping for something different even if I hated it.

TheUsedToolguy 02-24-2007 03:18 PM

they sound pretty........uh..........horrible

Loser 02-24-2007 03:19 PM

I agree

sleepy jack 02-24-2007 03:20 PM

How are they horrible? They're better then basically every band you guys talk about.

Loser 02-24-2007 03:25 PM

I saw them live not too long ago, the singer has no talent and it seems like there is no real flow it seems like the singer is going about whatever as well as the rest of the band......Dis-organized, but has alo of energy when they play live i'll give them that much.

1. You did not see them live awhile ago.
2. Way to prove you havn't listened to them.

Loser 02-24-2007 03:29 PM

They were in new york city like 2 or 3 weeks ago I saw them.
And going to see them next month :)

so they're horrible, but you're going to see them next month?
Well, let me say I saw them on Youtube, and I couldn't even hear the singer, they need to turn the vocals up, I would agree although I haven't seen them live, that they must be horrible live. And Crowquill, for them to be better than the other bands we talk about, they would hav to sound way way better on record than live.

I'm a concert whore.

swim 02-24-2007 03:35 PM

Most bands on youtube sound like shit live.

sleepy jack 02-24-2007 03:37 PM

You judged them on a poor quality live video didn't you?

Two or three weeks ago? Try a week.

You know what I meant :)

TheUsedToolguy 02-24-2007 03:43 PM

alright, well, they also looked like idiots, how's that? and the fact that they're playing a live show where u can't hear the singer attests to the fact that they're idiots

lol @ judging bands on youtube videos. i'd call you an idiot but you did the job for me.

chickendude 02-24-2007 05:00 PM

You can never hear vox at shows. If you could hear the vocals it would be a show and tell, not merely a show.

TheUsedToolguy 02-24-2007 05:26 PM

It's not true that all live videos suck on youtube, probably just the ones that sucky fans make of sucky bands that suck, like all vids of Hot Cross

acratertocoffin 02-24-2007 05:31 PM

There's a thesaurus in Microsoft word. Suck is under S. I'll wait.....
And I could look up every band you love on youtube and find a shitty live recording of them without even trying.

I really like the new album, as they're venturing into good post hardcore territory instead of screamo. But both are awesome.

Jesus, could you at least think a little before you post, I mean I don't even like Hot Cross but come on! The same applies to Loser.

TheUsedToolguy 02-24-2007 05:54 PM

Well, if this band means so much to u, why don't u giv me a decent link, since the vid on youtube was so misrepresentative of what they are all about.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 02-24-2007 05:54 PM

A little lesson about sound. The videos where you couldn't hear the vocals in were probably shot like this.

---------------------------PA Level

---------------------------Amp Level

---------------------------ELEVATED STAGE/Handicam Level (not multi-thousand dollar live recording systems your overly synthesized generic bands are provided)

---------------------------Ground level

Basically when your camera mic is 20 feet away from an 800 watt ampeg bass stack displacing the air like crazy, and a 200 watt Marshall stacking beating it with high end frequencies, especially in a small bar where the acoustics aren't very good to begin with, you aren't going to hear much of anything but fuzz and distortion. Even in the video

YouTube - hot cross at the wnd 04

where the camera is elevated where the PA's would be, it is still hard to hear the vocals, just because of how much sound is bouncing off those walls. Your ears may be focused to hear things directly in front of you and to the sides (not to mention much better at processing sound waves), but a MUCH more sensitive mic that can't take tons of sound without overloading is going to really take a beating from all the frequencies bouncing around that room.

PS. God, you are both idiots.

TheUsedToolguy 02-24-2007 06:44 PM

yeah, perfect sonnet how did I ever miss that? BTW I asked for a good link not a sucky one, of course that is the challenge, and will be impossible I think.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 02-24-2007 06:56 PM

Wow, can you please get your head out of your ass, you thought Drop Dead, Gorgeous sounded good.

I'm also amazed at how you clicked the link and went straight back to your moronic thinking, rather than read why outdoor and concert hall shows sound better recorded than bar and basement ones.

You are such a loser, perfect sonnet, I didn't say they sounded good, I said not too bad, and BTW if I get warned for this statement, I'll know this is a biased site that reserves special treatment for certain members w/ their heads up you asses, since read the above post.

swim 02-24-2007 07:14 PM

We're biased to people who are open minded and make meaningful logical posts and listen to good music. CAUGHT US!!!

How are you so thick? You're judging a band on the quality of a video shot by a fan, and posted on youtube. Here's a thought, if the sound quality is the ONLY thing bothering you, why don't you look around and find a better quality video or clip of their stuff, or maybe even go on limewie and download the damn song. You've obviously got enough time on your hands if you're able to argue something as absolutely retarded as this.

Oh, and while you're at it, die in a fire because you're starting to annoy me.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 02-24-2007 07:21 PM

Catie let the secret out.

I mean seriously, it's like me going into rock and metal and saying every one of their bands sucks. I know I don't like that stuff, so I just keep out of it. You have no tact and act undeniably pretentious towards something you know nothing about: music. I reported you because you have offered nothing constructive to our section, but rather have offered up negative feedback and threads that relate in no way to emo or hardcore. You have been told this SEVERAL times, even by members who don't even frequent this section. Is everyone from Missouri as misdirected and incompetant as you like to portray yourself?

chickendude 02-24-2007 07:22 PM

Please don't die in a fire.

TheUsedToolguy 02-24-2007 07:51 PM

thanks, I won't die in a fire, and clearly wishing that kind of harm on a person only comes back to hurt the wisher. I have seen many people, namely Crowquill going in threads and talking about how much bands suck, and I will do the same. Isn't that the reason we go on this website, to share ideas, and giv our opinions? And about that really starting to annoy u comment HAHA (Nelson laugh) And perfect sonnet you're such a loser, reporting me, that doesn't scare me at all. I will continue to voice my unbiased and honest opinions on this site until I am kicked off. That is all. Thx.

yes, but the difference between members like crowquil is that they say WHY they dont like a band. They don't post useless sh*t like "the sound quality on the recording is crap". Thanks for that, unfortunately, that has NOTHING to do with the MUSIC. Stop being a useless piece of bandwidth, and start explaining WHY you dont like the music. we dont care if you think the sound quality of the recording isnt good enough, we dont care if you think the musician seems like a pedophile. We would however, like to hear your opinion on the MUSIC, which thus far, you have failed to provide us with.

Merkaba 02-24-2007 08:09 PM

You guys need to sort your shit out.

If you're just here to pick bones, don't post. If you're just here to give a half arsed remark about the topic, don't post.

That goes for everyone, not just the noobs. And it goes for everywhere, not just here.

Sorted.

chickendude 02-24-2007 08:17 PM

I will disagree when you say that the personality of the musicians should have no effect on your view of the music. If a band is an ******* to me I'm not going to listen to their music. If a band rapes children with the money I give them by buying their music I'm not going to buy (or listen) to their music. It is frustrating when people try to talk about bands that aren't even vaguely similar to emo music, though...

Also, a recording quality that is too "good" usually turns me off. I like that raw live sound (see: Allure's demo tape, Ten Boy Summer's demo tape, or A River Made To Drown In's recordings).

Btw, check out this hawt picture I found online of A River Made to Drown In:

w0rd, Trophy Scars quit being one of my favorite bands after Jerry threatened to punch me in the face if he ever saw me.
