Hardcore Punk

Other than indie/experimental music I've always had soft spot for hardcore punk. I am completely out of touch with it now, though. Completely. Can anybody help get me back on track? Which bands should I know about, and who are the most well renowned and regarded among fans these days? Are there any stand-out albums I should check out? And so on and so forth...

Converge - noisy hardcore with metal influences.

Jane Doe, You Fail Me, and No Heroes are all good, and I'm quite sure the older stuff is too, but I haven't heard as much of it.

Out of interest, in what sort of regard are Suicidal Tendencies generally held by hardcore fans?

xcult_classicx 05-02-2007 02:17 AM

crossover thrash?

Good band, lame image.

They have had periods of hardcore, crossover and metal. I guess crossover thrash would be the best label for them.
