wtf? Why doesn't he scream like that for the Fall of Troy?

I've known about The Hills Have Eyes for awhile now, but never checked them out. Probably because I'm an idiot. Good ****.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 05-08-2007 08:20 PM

Yeah they broke up though and I think they only made those 3 songs.

enemyat_thesix 05-08-2007 11:39 PM

ctts' vox exude as much emotion as saetia's while maintaining decipherability. what's the use in having great lyrics--as screamo does--without being able to hear them? i personally don't want to dig out an album booklet to follow along.

swim 05-09-2007 03:41 PM

I think the point of putting great lyrics on a screamo album is that it's medium of release. It obviously doesn't mean much when it comes to the music but I guess for someone who likes to write why not do it well and put it out there. It also makes for a nice read of the inserts.

Trauma 05-09-2007 08:38 PM

I concur with swim.
It also helps if you have the ability to decipher them.

enemyat_thesix 05-10-2007 07:23 AM

i definitely think their power comes from their intensity, but i think it would be a shame if ctts vox were incoherent like saetia's (screamed) are.

Trauma 05-10-2007 11:10 AM

It's a medium of expression, man!
If Saetia's sounded clean, it really wouldn't be the same.
Besides, a lot of Saetia's lyrics are decipherable without a book, they're just high-pitched.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 05-10-2007 05:18 PM

^Agreed.

xcult_classicx 05-11-2007 02:07 AM

well, the dude from Hassan I Sabbah sounded french on first listen, then i found out their singer was american. he's still powerful as **** though, sometimes, it's like that gift of tongues thing at those Christian meetings, you don't know what the **** they mean, but if one thing's for sure, it's that they mean it.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 05-12-2007 12:18 AM

I just downloaded some Hassan I Sabbah after reading this... listening to it now.

xcult_classicx 05-12-2007 08:48 AM

listen to Watching The Eyes Of Someone Lying, he really sounds french there

That is the truest and funniest thing i've heard in awhile.

xcult_classicx 05-13-2007 11:41 PM

well, coming from a guy who plays in a band that doesn't write lyrics, it comes naturally. lawlz

Alexander the Grape 05-15-2007 08:44 PM

So far most of this thread has been about screamo screamers, but I think a lot of hardcore bands have good screams, too. They usually aren't as raw or emotional as screamo screams, but they still can be pretty good. Some of my favorites:

Between the Buried and Me- great clean vox also
The Bled
Old Misery Signals screamer

I'm listening to them right now, I'm sorry, but Tommy is not a good screamer.
I'd go Neaera or Killswitch Engage as far as vox over BTBAM.

By the way, if I didn't say Dallas Taylor, Dallas Taylor.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 05-15-2007 09:52 PM

I'm liking Funeral Diner's vocals a lot lately.

xcult_classicx 05-16-2007 01:13 AM

Ion Dissonance's old singer pwns 80% of metalcore

acratertocoffin 05-16-2007 02:00 AM

I still go with Hiretsukan and The Hope and The Failure for my money.

xcult_classicx 05-16-2007 02:01 AM

Are you talking the Doors Open EP, because if so, it's sweet.

+ Watchmen, or should I say the best comic book series ever.

Trauma 05-16-2007 10:04 PM

Were you trying to spell Justice League..or Batman....?

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 05-16-2007 10:16 PM

I think Skramzman would be a pretty cool superhero.

Trauma 05-16-2007 10:19 PM

I don't like the word Skramz.
Skramzman as a whole though, would be a pretty cool concept.
What band t-shirt do you think he'd wear?

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 05-16-2007 11:15 PM

That is a good question. Speaking of which, do you know where I could get band shirts from Saetia and Envy? And others maybe. For Saetia, I'm thinking that there won't be any really accessible, but I have some hope for Envy.

xcult_classicx 05-17-2007 01:28 AM

as much as i hate the word skramz, it's better to use it when talking to closed minded people who are oh-so-emo. it works in this country regardless of how dumb all these labels are. it's all just hardcore anyway.

oh yeah, i pitched an idea to my friend a while back about a super hero named Screamo Man (thanks to ethan in that other thread) with sidekicks like Skramboy and Emo Kid. then Emo kid goes to the mall one day and turns into an emozombie and hatches an evil plan against Screamo Man and Skramboy.

lawlzzz

Envy shirts you can probably find online pretty easily. Saetia shirts would be harder I'd assume.

swim 05-17-2007 02:41 PM

Make your own. I can post some stuff on screen printing if anyone wants it.

Hell no, it's like trying to find a Converge shirt, or, with better imagery, a MCR shirt.

If you're trying to find screamo shirts, I suggest finding l33t bands that no one knows about, like... I Wrote Haikus Aboutetc.
Just because I would only buy a band shirt if I went to a show.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 05-17-2007 04:59 PM

@swim: I've been thinking of silkscreening my own shirts, but just with my designs, instead of bands. Also I don't have the equipment.

@cult: I figure skramz would be better to use if you're talking about real screamo and not Underoath or Saosin or whatever people would want to label screamo, because hopefully they'll know what you're talking about. I don't use it specifically as a genre term, though. Like when I'm tagging on last.fm, I just use screamo.
