OK then emo sucks ,go cry & listen to Rites of Spring or Fugazi

bleedingxlungs 01-15-2005 12:12 PM

I love 'emo'. I put that in quotations because every music is inspired by some kind of emotions. I'm not scene though... scene is childish.

riseagainstrocks 01-15-2005 01:45 PM

of course your not scene. your so un-scene. I bet you don't own a band shirt. or ever go to shows. crazy not scene kids. only un-scene kids put an x in their name. Thank God that your not scene

Sweet Jane 01-15-2005 03:01 PM

I like Fugazi...

hookers with machineguns 01-18-2005 11:07 PM

I guess Fugazi's lyrics and vocals are considered emo, but I never felt comfortable calling em that. Anyway, I always liked them and Embrace/Rites of Spring stuff.

Some of us do want to help, its just y'know what happens when the whole "real emo" thing comes up. The safest thing to do is just find what you like and stick with that. Why should you feel you have to listen to "real emo".
Anyway I really dont want this to start into an emo debate again, so lets carry on with the original topic of the thread.

Fenixpunk 01-21-2005 07:38 AM

emo is an amazing genre.

also, blacktshirt, there really aren't any emo bands that ARE famous. for the most part, emo bands don't last long enough to get famous.

xX-ih8em0f4gzlol-Xx 01-23-2005 03:10 PM

hahahahahahahahaha

CheekFreak 01-27-2005 11:36 AM

I cant stand emo... My friend is making me go to a bright eyes concert with him.

I like the postal service... would that be considered EMO? It doesn't sound whiney enough to be Emo.

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 01-28-2005 01:59 AM

i used to hate emo. sappy a$$ love songs piss me off. but i like some "forms" of emo (i guess forms is the right word) im into "post hardcore" stuff like thursday, saosin, finch. i also like experimental "indie" stuff like a band called "the sound of animals fighting" which i doubt anyones ever heard of.

Zealious 01-29-2005 01:15 PM

Listen to Die Emperor! Die! Its great underground emo

sgirl 02-01-2005 12:46 AM

MAN do I hate emo.

Let the stupid emos slit their own wrists and die.
Just suck it up like the rest of the natural world.

blackTshirt 02-01-2005 01:15 AM

^ it's not healthy to post that in an emo thread... the right way to do it is to say "not into emo at all" if that's what you feel

I guess everyone should suck it up and throw all form of expression out the window.

/sarcasm

This_isnt_highschool 02-03-2005 12:44 PM

why are people on a friggin EMO!!!!! forum if all theyre gonna do is complain about it??! just becasue we listen to emo doesnt mean all we do is slit our wrists and act depressed! just cuz people show a little emotion in their songs doesnt make them suicidal!!! get over it and go post in a forum that matters to you then! :finger:

ArtistInTheAmbulance 02-03-2005 12:56 PM

lol yes....of corse, why didnt i think of that! silly, uninteresting me...

phoenixflames 04-24-2005 07:24 PM

Emo is a great form of music because its one of the few genres where people talk about how they feel and can be honest (at least thats how it seems in my mind). I like a wide range of music though, but emo is favorite...

.angie. 04-24-2005 08:47 PM

^i totally and completly agree with that.:)

ArtistInTheAmbulance 04-25-2005 11:14 AM

Every genre does that. I cant think of a genre that doesnt convey emotions... Thats why music is loved by everyone. To say "emo is one of the few genres where people talk about how they feel and can be honest" just isnt true. Emo just tends to be forward about it...

Well, if you take a look at many genres (take radio pop for instance), their "emotion" tends to be quite fake, at least to me. Sometimes rap and country comes across the same way to me as well.

And the emotions I was refering to were more along the lines of deep emotions. More deep than, "Yay, I got a new car, let me write a song about it" or "Oh boy, look at her butt". I just find alot of genres these days seem fake.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 04-25-2005 12:08 PM

Well, if you class horny as an emotion then Im still right... Ok, so sometimes its harder to see with some genres. But I dont think you can say emo is one of the few genres that shows emotion... Its just more brazen with it, if you get what I mean.. They basically write what theyre feeling and put it into a song.

Note Im not saying the entire genre is like this, but Im looking at emo as a whole.

Lol, well I think thats what I'm saying. Maybe I'm just terrible at writing my feelings out!

gongadin 04-25-2005 03:26 PM

I think real emo is alright, but I don't like green day rip-offs that seem to go under being emo, like charlie from busted's new band.

.angie. 04-25-2005 04:12 PM

^is everything a green day ripoff to you? seems like it to me.

gongadin 04-25-2005 04:32 PM

^no, ive changed my sig and title anyway, after i realised that not many bands were green day rip-offs

.angie. 04-25-2005 04:39 PM

good deal.:) although, its mainly like, simple plan that are ripoffs.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 04-26-2005 12:53 AM

Just because a band sounds like another band doesnt make them a rip off y'know...

pastor of muppets 04-26-2005 04:42 AM

yeh, it just means that they have no creativity of their own :p:

tinker bell 04-26-2005 08:49 AM

I'm Emo minded if that makes any sence, plus anyone that meets me automaticaly thinks "Emo"

No it doesnt. It just means that that's the genre they want to play. No two bands are alike anyway, even if its a tribute band. Everyone interprets it differently.

i know that, i just strongly despise simple plan.:) no offence to all of you other people that dont.

princess_jenney 04-28-2005 02:03 PM

I like most emo because I find that lyrically, emo is interesting. I like the fact that the songs are very mediphorical and in some ways open to inturpritation...most of the time you can relate.
