And I wish pretentious people would get over themselves.

So...you're agreeing with him that I am idiot...and then asking him to cool it?

My...hypocrisy runs deep in this thread.

So, Mr. Rule Man...let me get this straight - no tongue-in-cheek comments allowed, huh?

There is great need for a sarcasm font.

It must suck to not laugh at the absurd.

Can we get this back on topic now please.

We won't ask a third time.

scrolled back to the last page, and I can't even see where someone asked once...but maybe you can see something I can't.

My bad - I'm an idiot.

So, I apologize.

Now, back to the top 10.

But aren't The Clash considered punk?

And J. Mascis played guitar for GG Allin - he is MORE than "competent" as a musician...

And isn't "competent" synonymous with "run of the mill" "average" or "mediocre"?

J. Mascis is good, but I would say that there are emotive hardcore musicians who are equally skilled-or more than competent. The style of playing is pretty different, and I think there just don't tend to be guitar solos in emo. Also, a lot of it fits under the "punk" banner anyway.

This is a cool list because there are a lot of bands that I am familiar with, and respect, but none of which are my favorites. I probably should listen to more Orchid, Hated, and Still Life. I've heard Evergreen mentioned, but I only know the Louisville punk band--who are way cool themselves. The only Still Life song I really know is an acoustic jam from a comp on Tree records, so I know next to nothing (except that I think my friend said they palm-muted a lot).

I was huge into Indian Summer for a couple weeks and since then I've only liked them. There was a cool piece somebody wrote about "Aren't You, Angel" and compared it to "Angry Son" that I read just the other day, as well as something about "Waiting Room" (for the above poster). Maybe I'll look for a link.
