Why haven't I heard so much more about this album?

they were pulling an ornette coleman. 'the shape of jazz to come' came out in 1959 and introduced the world to the idea of free jazz while turning off all the purists. the guys in refused simply took from those ideas and reapplied them to a new style and generation.

both albums are worth checking out.

I haven't heard this album either, and I really have been meaning to check out Refused.

That's some great trivia. So I'm guessing the apparently jazzy elements of Shape of Punk to Come are no coincidence.

Nation Of Ulysses.

The Refused I'm assuming weren't so much aware of Ornette Coleman as they were N.O.U. Who released an album using similar a jazzy/hardcore styling, with mock revolutionary content.

Anyone been listening to the reissue that came out today? I've tried a few of the live tracks. They're sloppy but in a good way, and Tannhauser is absolutely phenomenal. Apparently the album has been remastered too?

I don't know how I feel about the reissue. It's hardly very "Refused" is it.
