i am tierd of emo kids who dont know what emo is.............

I am so teird of kids who say they are emo but have heard nothing in the genra besieds bands like tbs, dashboard, bright eyes, and saves the day. Their are so many more good bands to this style of music so get a clue. Go find yourself a rights of spring cd or, listen to some jawbreaker. God learn the roots of your music hell most emo kids dont even realize that their style was started by Ian MacKaye of minor threat. Also punk kids quit complaing about emo the 2 genres are so closely tied that it is liek makeing fun of your self.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 01-11-2005 12:32 PM

No offence, but if they're happy being 'fake' or whatever then surely they're not harming you? Its not really any different to all the 'mainstream' people at school trying to make me feel like sh*t for wearing eyeliner or something sad.. Just leave 'em be, they arent hurting anyone...

Urban Hat€monger ? 01-11-2005 01:09 PM

And even more pathetic is the 'i`m more emo than you' arguements

ArtistInTheAmbulance 01-11-2005 01:49 PM

^Ha theyre fun. Just like this kid who throws rotten food at me and tells everyone how hes "more hardcore" than I am.. He's pretty damn cool.

Fenixpunk 01-11-2005 01:52 PM

how many emo kids does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
none...emo kids like to cry in the dark....

jesus 01-11-2005 01:57 PM

^

For more bad emo jokes go here http://members.aol.com/punksteriot/emojokes.html
just found them by doing a search.

As for the original topic. I agree with Artist and I find the just let them be approach the best. At one point everyone was in their shoes and were clueless. Let them be. They will either learn or move on since it's obviously a fad for them. I feel like this could be leading to the whole newb-noob-n00b debate.

Probably feels good to vent though.

Ha those jokes sucked so much. It wouldnt have been so bad if they were actually funny.. And yeah lets leave the thread move on to the whole newb thing, could be fun...

Porphyria Plan 01-11-2005 02:46 PM

Yeah, I said they were bad. The kind of jokes that are so bad you laugh only because of the attempt at humor and then it's maybe only a giggle. :(

Of course the biggest irony is , is that i`ve heard these 'real' emo bands & can`t stand the genre.

the only "emo" ive heard is dashboard, FFAF, Brand New and TBS. i can quite safely say i hate all 4 of those bands but i cant say i hate emo because i havent heard enough.

Fenixpunk 01-11-2005 03:27 PM

Is Scared of Chakka emo? i mean they are kinda whiney, but if they are, then they will probably be one of the only emo bands i can honestly say i like, if they are not considered emo, then well, ive wasted your time.

pianolp325 01-11-2005 03:28 PM

its probably the singing that can turn a person on or away from emo. i really dont know what emo means but im tryin to get into some of it just cause i like listening to different kinds of music. I will say dashboard and brand new suck. I like chemical romance, coheed and cambria(forget how to spell it), and the used. Fall out boy has gotten my attention too.

you're probably everything he's/she's against

pianolp325 01-11-2005 03:38 PM

wait wat?

spearmint 01-11-2005 04:22 PM

Who cares? If people don't know what "real emo" is. Dude seriously...it's like people like music...they didn't start liking it because it was a certain genre! yeah...I'm done

franscar 01-11-2005 04:47 PM

I used to think I knew what emo was.

Then I realised I apparently didn't.

Then I realised I didn't care. I feel better for it.

pianolp325 01-11-2005 05:52 PM

Most people have to associate themselves with a type of music and call it their own so they get mad when other people try to get into it. But to me there is really only music I like and music I dont like.

Greg 01-11-2005 06:00 PM

I agree. People put music into genres so that they can define themselves to a certain group. Music is either good/bad or it doesn't move me either way.

slightly_altered_mind 01-11-2005 06:40 PM

I like all types of music but i guess you could say "emo" is my favorite, but whats it matter if someones emo or doesnt know what it means? Im about far as from emo as it gets, im the surfy jock type but i enjoy it just as much as you or anybody else. Stop crying about people taking over your music its not yours just because you listened to it first or you dress or act a certain way. Its open to everyone, just be happy that something you are or like is getting more attention.

pianolp325 01-11-2005 07:37 PM

im black so that should say enough right there.

xxthinkmewholexx 01-11-2005 07:55 PM

i think everyone missedthe poitnentirely i am not saying ridcule them for it or that they are less than me beacuse of the fact they dont know what it is what i am saying is, that people should find out what they are listening to and saying about themselves before they do it, most people who like dashboard or tbs. ould hatte jaw breaker or fugazi.

franscar 01-11-2005 08:10 PM

Yeah, but surely it's pretty rare to find someone who is going to like EVERY band associated with a certain genre? I like a lot of bands that play rock music, so if someone asked me if I like rock music I'd say yes, but that doesn't stop me from thinking some rock bands are incredibly, incredibly BAAAAAAAAAD.

slightly_altered_mind 01-11-2005 08:18 PM

^exactly, i mean dude i have about 80 or so emo bands i listen to stedily and i about guarentee you and me dont share anymore than 60% of those. Just because they dont like jaw breaker or fugazi, or even heard of them, or even know who started "emo" whys it matter, your to worried about the facts, just lay back and let people enjoy what they like and not worry about having to know every detail in fear of being hassled

David Frost 01-11-2005 08:32 PM

you know whats even sadder?

when people think dashboard, bright eyes, and TBS are emo.

THEY ARE NOT!

sorry, that might shake your boots, but its true.

please people, start listening to Rites of Spring and Antioch Arrow!

GO! GO! GO!

riseagainstrocks 01-11-2005 08:33 PM

Frost emo means different things to different people. Learn that. They are emo to some and not emo to others. Notably you.

David Frost 01-11-2005 08:36 PM

i just find it ironic that this kid posts

OMG I totally hate all these emo kids that dont listen to real emo music...

then he says

Like taking back sunday

its kind of sad now that you think about it.

riseagainstrocks 01-11-2005 08:43 PM

i thought he was against them? No matter point being I like my TBS right along with some Kodan Armada.

its My Chemical Romance. I like them

Fall Out Boy = bad...really bad

slightly_altered_mind 01-11-2005 08:54 PM

emo ive heard is short for emotion. emotion is like a fingerprint, not one thing is the same from person to person. one emotion might be one way for one person and different to the other. therefore emo(emotion) will be one thing to one, and another to another person

David Frost 01-11-2005 09:09 PM

wrong. emotion is emotion.

emo is a specific genre of music.

when someone says metal (in the context of music) i dont think of steel.

slightly_altered_mind 01-11-2005 09:19 PM

metaphor bud...pay attention in school you might learn something

David Frost 01-11-2005 09:33 PM

how is it a metaphor?

a metaphor is an implicit comparison of two terms used for dramatic effect or to support a theme or motif.

you were comparing the word emo to emotion by saying they ARE the same thing. thats no metaphor. maybe you should pay attention in school, which by my guess is nothing higher than a freshman in high school.

good job buddy.

slightly_altered_mind 01-11-2005 09:37 PM

oh man good guess but wrong, yes you are right not a metaphor, wrong choice of words, but do tell me what do you think emo stands for? sorry to cut short but big day tomorrow ill finish later

David Frost 01-11-2005 09:52 PM

no you wont. i hate rants, and this is going nowhere.

emo stands for nothing. it is a word. fish or rock or whistle dont stand for something longer. emo is simply a genre of music. for the past couple of years (with the high point of this being right about now), this genre has been exploited and ruined.

people have different views on music and i understand that. however, i have to say that my opinions on music might be more educated than others. not because im smarter, that isnt the case. the reason is that most people that argue with me on here actually dont know what they are talking about. they listen to my chemical romance and taking back sunday for 2 weeks and then they freak when i say something. these kids wont go listen to Indian Summer, Hoover, or I Hate Myself..
i have heard both emo and what people call emo now. i guarantee that this slightly altered mind person has know idea who these bands are.

now there are exceptions on this board, so i dont piss off everyone. people like Thrice and Riseagainstrock have developed styles in music and listen to both, i dont know how or why, but at least they have a concrete basis for their tastes in music.

pianolp325 01-12-2005 12:10 AM

my take on emo is that punk kids rebeled again and decided to make the music better.

slightly_altered_mind 01-12-2005 05:43 AM

if you have no wish to finish it ill stop, but if youd like to see where im coming from instant message me. If you want to send me a link to those bands you were talking about thatd be nice

Zealious 01-12-2005 06:18 AM

Frost, by any chance do you like Burnman?

emo has gone mainstream now , nobody cares what emo purists think anymore , you ask anyone what those bands are & they`ll say emo. popular opinion dictates these things, if people think they are emo it`s because they are. The emo you once knew has gone , it`s been swallowed up by the masses & made radio friendly, you might not like it but thats what happens.
Know when it`s time to move on & find something new & original rather than just bring out the tired old 'I`m so emo because I was there from the start and know more obscure bands than you' arguement. If you don`t like it you can always go write a poem about it

Fenixpunk 01-12-2005 02:16 PM

emo sucks
theyre whiney phucks
keep your boo hoos to yourself,
spend your cash
on bands like crass
and leave emo **** on the shelf!
