The purpose of (nearly all) music is to convey emotion, so by your definition, nearly all the songs ever recorded have been emo. And by the way, emo is short for emotional hardcore.

emo is NOT short for emotional hardcore. No way. And not every song is emotionally charged, what about rage against the machine? Sure theyre emotional, but the theme is politically/socially charged.

So if emo if short for emotional hardcore, new found glory simple plan and good charlotte must be pretty hardcore huh?

Emo IS short for emotional hardcore, it came from the contraction of 'emocore' with originated in the late 80's with band like Rites Of Spring. Also good job at contradicting yourself kid, you even said it yourself that a band as un-emo as RATM are emotional.

Also why the hell are you bringing Pop-punk/Power-pop bands into this for?

^ LOL! Considering titles without emo do the same thing, one with with emo in the title is 73.9% more likely to turn into this kind of arguement. Its been proven by science.

Ermm.. Fall Out Boy? Im having trouble trying to figure out what is meant by "emo poseur bands", whether we're talking about bands posing as emo, or bands that other people think are emo.

I've seen other forums go through the whole "emo" arguement and eventually it worked out and most people there knew what emo was. Also, it tended to get people to find out about music and made the whole board a bit more knowledgable and got rid of the idiots.

I guess you could always ask for the name of the forum changed, if it bothers you that much, I wouldn't know what you'd change it to though.
