hate in the emo community

In here, there seems to be a rising amount of hatred of this and that. I hope someone gets what im saying. I mean, "Worst Emo Band"? I thought that before my haitus that we came to a conclusion that there isn't a set rule of emo. well, discuss your hearts out.

I dont understand this thread... Do you mean more people are hating emo? Cause people have always hated emo... As far as I know anyway

He's saying that there is not set rule for what Emo actually is. So do people hate all the types of emo, or just that one and decided they hate emo in general? Good question, I actually asked one of my friends who listens to nothing but emo what it was, the answer...he did not know for sure, except that it is "Emo"tional and that there are many types. Myself, I like emo-punk, but still listen to acoustic The Early November-emo-stuff. Emo is good. Deal with it.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 04-03-2005 11:28 AM

Its just like any genre then... Certain types of it are hated by some people, and some people just hate all emo...
*Sigh* Ok, Im obviously not understanding this thread, Ill just leave it be and someone else can post...

Emo is one of the most elitist genres out there.

I don`t think i`ve ever seen so much bitchiness & big headedness over what is emo & what isn`t.

Read it, and it will explain everything for you.

"For the most part, however, emo is now a sad and frail representation of what it once was. Today it has degenerated into a vile and vapid scene of vacuous individuals, more worried about the tightness of overpriced 'punk rock' t-shirts than it is about musical innovation and new forms of expression. When music becomes fashion (see 'emo' articles in various U.S. teen-girl magazines), music has lost its worth and power. More than that, critics are to blame for going into emo overdrive. Any song with an affecting use of octave chords was emo and any band on an indie label (like Vagrant, or Emotaph as Buddyhead call it) with cute boys singing about cute girls was emo. It's almost laughable."

"Emo was exciting once, but now it's a rotting corpse. The swarm of corporate major-label vultures have come to pick at the bones and for the new bands it's as easy as following the formula for punk-pop emo. In the words of Refused, it's time for new noise."

Happens to every genre. I don`t see what the fuss is about

No im saying that people in here are always saying "oh this band sucks, that band sucks." Its stupid. why dont we say "Hey, man. I like that band over there." and then someone else says "Yeah, they're pretty cool. I like that one song." and then someone else says "What's your favorite cd?" Just pleasant things. Its stupid to come in here and deal with hating this band and hating that scene, and hating things.

Even though I wouldn't use elitist, you got it right for the most part. Also, we have to category emo and what isn't and all that. I mean, there are a bunch of types of emo (emocore, emo, screamo, ect.) and i don't see why we're fighting. seriously, calm down.

Also, i dont see why people come in here for the sole purpose of talking about how big ***s were are and we should shut up.
