Yes! Yes! Yes!

A look through those RYM charts linked above wouldn't go amiss for anyone wanting to get into the genre, however it's disputable as to whether or not some of those artists are actually 'screamo'

^Their Documents were awesome and a pretty important part of the entire Screamo genre, so why wouldn't they?
Although I personally prefer #5 to #8

Their split with City of Caterpillar was awesome too.

^ I haven't heard the split, I might get it. I think the reason I'm turned off to them is my hearing part of "My Application Into Heaven." I like City of Caterpillar a lot, though.

Pg.99 are to screamo what The Rolling Stones are to rock, so their influence and contribution to the genre is undoubtable, however there'll be some who just don't rate them that highly.

In regards to the splits, they've also got one with CTTS, which isn't very long, two tracks each, but is still pretty good.

I went through a period of about three years where I was pretty much obsessed with screamo. I still love listening to it today. Document #8 and The Moon is a Dead World would be in my top 3 too, along with the City of Caterpillar S/T.

There are too many other bands to list, but particular favourites are: Off Minor, We Fly Our Kites at Night, Suis La Lune, Kodan Armada, Jerome's Dream, Orchid, Ampere, Usurp Synapse, La Quiete, Et Tu Brute, Daitro, Mohinder, Heroin, Caestles, Saetia, Mesa Verde...

I can't see this getting too many responses; there isn't much love for the sound around here, which I can understand, but at the same time it surprises me because the progenitors and classic acts from the mid 90s-early 00s - as well as the clutch of good bands around today - pack one hell of a punch. At it's best screamo is a hugely visceral and engulfing listening experience.

i am not a huge fan of Screamo.....but there is no denying how great Page 99 was....i agree with mankycaaant Document 5 is by far their greatest album and still gets frequent play with me.....live Page 99 was explosive....i think i could only think of a couple of other bands that could throw an audience into a frenzy like Page 99....esp. with My Application to Heaven

i also have a soft spot for Antioch Arrow.....i'm not their biggest fan and mainly listen to them still because they remind me of better times....but still i think they are worth mentioning as a pretty good screamo band

and last year i was introduced to I Would Set Myself On Fire For You and they are amazing....very unique with duel male/female vocals and violin....great stuff

Comadre, Daitro, Saetia, and Envy are my favourites. Pg.99 are incredible based on my fairly limited experience with them (Document 8). I need to get Document 5 at some point.
