I have given Loveless yet another chance, nothing has changed my opinion of the album yet.

But I do really like 'I Only Said' and 'Sometimes'

What are other people's stand out tracks?

Someone just sent me an album.
I don't know how I feel about them yet, but I suppose I'll update sometime this week.

My standout tracks are Sometimes, Blown A Wish and Soon.

Sometimes was the first ever MBV song i heard, i remember hearing it on the radio a few years ago and i didn't know what to make of it. But when i got a copy of Loveless and listened to it a few times (also with the help of some fine herb) i realised what an awesome song it is. Kevin's melancholic vocal melody seeping through a caustic wall of distortion just sounds perfect to me now.

I love the soft dreamy sound of Blown A Wish. It's Bilinda's vocals at their sexiest, most euphoric and most dream-like, and not to mention a really beautiful melody.

Soon is a really great song to end the album with. It sounds like nothing else you will ever hear with it's hard-hitting danceable beat, weird repetitive guitar lines, waves of layered distortion and Bilinda's dreamy, incomprehensible vocals. It's like a dance tune from a parallel universe. I never get tired of this song.

Hmm, I'm really trying to get into the album, I think some albums just hit you and they're instantly brilliant, others have different layers and different dimensions and take time to appreciate, I'm thinking this is an album that takes time to really 'get.'

Still yet to do it but trying. Sometimes is my favourite track, I remember listening to it the first time and thinking meh, shit. But there was one song on it, then I watched Lost In Translation and it came on and I was like I KNOW THAT SONG!

I thought the album wasn't really catchy or stand out, but that song stuck with me. Brilliant lyrics.

And..

Your musical compatibility with Zero1986 is SUPER

I am also a stalker.

I give you my respect for trying so hard to understand it. Honestly, if it doesn't happen it doesn't happen...I know many people who don't like Loveless too much, so don't feel bad about it. You definitely gave it a shot.

Why thank you

The thing with it is, I can't call it a bad album because there's some nice melodies there, so if I said I don't like it and someone asked why, I couldn't really give them an answer. I think it's just a matter of understanding it. Can you remember the first time you heard it? What was it like? Was it just like 'woah, this is great' or did you have to try and get it a little bit?

But yeah like you said, you can only give it your best shot people who are musically ignorant and just write off a piece of work after listening once really piss me off. What's their other album like? Never bothered giving it much attention after all, Loveless is THE album.

It might surprise you a bit...it has a different sound for sure. You may even like it more than Loveless. As has been said here a few times, their EPs are also worth checking out.

And I didn't get Loveless the first run through either...Sometimes was an instant classic for me, but the rest of the album wasn't too hot in the beginning. In fact, I kept thinking I had a crap copy because of the weird warping on the first track. Eventually, I got into a few other shoegaze bands and came back to it. That is when it clicked.

Ah, I just looked at the chords for Sometimes and I'm an okay guitarist, pretty capable and some of the chords I've never come across. Brilliant song.

I think it's just a case of patience with this band, I like Loveless slightly more with each listen so that's a good sign, and I'll be sure to check out Isn't Anything at some point.
