Dispatch is sooo good. Bang Bang is an awesome album. "General" is a fanominal song.

They were the practically the official band of my Boy Scout Troop for a few years. Too bad they broke up. Braddigan's doing some nice (though occaisionally quasi-Christian) folk rock now and Chetro's got a solid band called State Radio that basically intensifys the slight reagge slant found in some dispatch songs and throws the spicy bite of punk and alt-rock into the mix (saw them live last year...pretty good. Their best song is called "Waitress"). Last I knew Repete was doing psuedo-soul stuff that was very so-so, but whatever.

Edit- had this in a separate thread that was about State Radio, but i mentioned dispatch as an introduction, so... sorry?

check out state radio...

Dunno how many people know of dispatch, but they were big for about 10 years until they broke up after a series of concerts at Madison Square Garden.

SO first off, if you hav'nt heard them, go listen.

When they broke up, Chad Urmston formed State Radio.

If you havnt heard of them, check em out, give me some feedback, good or bad.

As far as album recommendations, their new one (Year of the Crow) shows a bit more of their harder stuff. For more acoustic, go for Us Against the Crown.

They are fairly political, and most of their songs have meaning. Even if political music rubs you the wrong way, give it a listen, i've fallen for em'

I am reviving this thread. Dispatch is one of the bands that really got me interested in music. Now Dispatch has divided into three different groups, Braddigan, Pete Francis, and State Radio. State Radio is the most popular of the three, but they are all quite good.

State Radio recently released a new album, Let It Go, which is possible better than Us Against the Crown.

Songs to check out by Dispatch:
From Silent Steeples--Hey, Hey, Mayday, Elias
From Bang Bang --I would say every track on this album is gold, but if you need specifics, try:Bats in the Belfry, the General, Out Loud
From Who Are We Living For?--Passerby (if you can find a version with Phil Keaggy, it's even better.

Songs to check out by State Radio:
From Us Against the Crown--Camilo, People to People, Right Me Up, Man in the Hall (To me, these songs are all equally amazing, but Man in the Hall is probably the catchiest)
From Year of the Crow--I like this album the least, but Sudan is a good song.
From Let it Go--Mansin Humanity, Calling All Crows, Doctor Ron the Actor, Arsenic and Clover, Bohemian Grove

Check them out people! There's not nearly enough on these so called "Music Forums" about Dispatch and State Radio!
