Well lets just review shall we. That will make things easier for you to follow.

You said that they are a "pop-funk band strongly influenced by Jazz", who also use a piano to make them stand out of the crowd and make them original in the music industry. Now remember. The world of music is not the universe of "pop-funk band strongly influenced by Jazz" but of EVERYTHING. Now in the wide spectrum of EVERYTHING how is Maroon 5 different to everyone when many thousands of people within the music industry, mainstream, independent or just culturally binded towards music which contains the piano when there are so many who have used a piano before Maroon 5.
