Yeah but you have 10 years of them doing f*ck all to cloud your judgement.

Trust me , in 1994 Elastica were f*cking huge

What kind of impact have the Arctic Monkeys had then? Other than illustrating the potential of the internet to any record company wishing to peddle any old tat? They're the "indie" Crazy Frog.

Yeah but it is funny when people bitch about nobody bothering with the music forums & spamming the lounge all the time & when a debate does happen it`s just dismissed as being a 'pointless arguement'

all i wanted to say was that this argument, or discussion, is going nowhere, it's all about personal taste....you can argue that the monkeys are shit till you're blue in the face, if i or stu like them, there's really no point in trying to explain otherwise.....although, i must say, even though my knowledge of the brittish music scene is very limited ( i've only followed the recent scene ), i find it hard to believe that the monkeys album really deserves to be in the top ten, it's a great album sure, but considering the shere volume of brittish music, i find it hard to believe that you couldn't find ten other albums that have made more of an impact and have become classics.....especially since the album only came out like yesterday.....
EDIT: and besides, the top ten varies depending on personal taste....there cannot be an objective list of this sort.....

thats a typical comment from someone who dislikes the band because their too popular and commercial. they've had an impact on the nation as a whole, they've generated enough national excitement for music stores to be opening at midnight just to deal with the demand. they've had enough of an impact to sell 300,000 records in one week, they've had enough of an impact to be in every single newspaper. yes, i agree in saying its all over the top, but thats the facts and the fact they HAVE done this surely suggests they have the talent. the internet alone wont attract fans if the music is sh*t. musically, its impossible to state their impact atm, give it 5 years, then we'll see if they've made any iota of an impact.

Well if it`s all about personal taste that makes every post on this forum void.

Stu thinks they`ve made an impact more than any other band , Myself & franscar have seen it all before with other bands & are pointing this out.

Musical taste has nothing to do with it in this case.

Where did I say they were sh*t?
