I was really disappointed with Myths Of The Near Future after hearing the first couple of singles.

I was expecting some uber cool rave anthems with some cutting loud riffs & shouty choruses to really get things going.

All I got was an average rock album with some parpy synth noises to make it sound a little bit retro... BORING.

I like THE KLAXONS-unpretentious infectious music, but I much prefer the band !!! and their album MYTH TAKES. Far more dance on that album though. The Infidels are another band creeping around the radar, but I'm not sure what country they are from.

I listened to them a bit. Enjoyable, but nothing really set me off. I imagine the live show could be really fun though.

I think Atlantis To Interzone was the big misleading single for a lot of people and if I'm honest I was expecting more songs like that as well.

Thankfully I loved the album anyway (I paid full price for that thing).

Infadels are English as far as I'm aware. Last year was supposed to be theirs but they never really took off, did they? Maybe next year.

Oh look, another asshole comment which I've come to recant. How totally uncharacteristic of me!

Anyhoo, how come noone's discussing this little bit of news?

Klaxons Change Second Album After Label Pressure

The important bit:

As the band recently admitted to NME, though, their noisier tendencies have gotten them in some hot water with their label. In this story, Klaxon Jamie Reynolds confirms that Universal, the band's record company, has asked them to make changes to their Myths of the Near Future follow-up, which they've been recording with Simian Mobile Disco dude James Ford: "Yes, [we were asked to re-record part of the album] because we've made a really dense, psychedelic record. We've made a really heavy record, and it isn't the right thing for us. I understand and know that. First and foremost, we're a pop band. I haven't thought about that for a long time, and now it's in the forefront of my mind."
Thoughts?

P.s. I'm seeing them in June, along with Simian Mobile Disco!!

They made an album and the record company asked them to change a lot of it and then the band admit it wasn't them! Of course it was them. He's just bowing down to RC pressure. That has put me off 100% now.

It happens with all bands though, they always have hardcore fans who will buy their stuff regardless but they need to at least have one or two singles that will get airplay on tv and radio otherwise they will never expand that fanbase. I think the other thing is that with most other bands they don't publicise the fact that their record label has asked them to change some tracks as they fear such a backlash.
