Klaxons
a young band made from the same mould as Test icicles, klaxons are a dance-rock band that ooze of indie-cool, blending screamo, breakneck drum beats, samples and FX to produce a very interesting sound. sound similiar to liars, silver apples and rotunda ropunzel

Come with me! Come with me! We'll travel to infinity!
Can't believe no one responded to this before (including me). Love these guys, all of the demos that have leaked are great. Anyone get a chance to see them live? |
I just heard they're an act on my favorite new-band-festival this semester!
Klaxons, Boy Kill Boy, Little Man Tate, and the riffles are know up till now. |
i'm going to see them on the 13th at the london koko i think
cant wait, am a massive testicles fan (hahaha) and their drainpipe wearing dancing legs are quality along with their crazy jumpers and great tunes anyone know of the album |
was gonna check them out tonight at koko but it sold out... oh well :(
|
Sometimes I think that this band purposely makes horrible music just to mildly annoy people like me.
|
haha - tbh, i've not heard any klaaxons, **** discoc or datarock yet and thought the best intro would be live. that was my thoughts anyways... and if i didn't like then the club nme after with Simian Mobile Disco would have been fun....
|
yeah I love the Klaxons
|
Amazing Band!
saw them at the underground in stoke...glowsticks as afr as the eye could see
|
Their drums are tight.
|
yep i saw them at the oxford zodiac in the end and it was the best gig ever
sh*tdisco really impressed me and klaxons even more i thought it would be a really sloppy, new band kind of performance but it turned out to be really pounding and there was never a dull moment new rave is with us |
Picked up the Xan Valleys EP earlier today. Sure I had all the songs already, but it's nice to have them all in one convenient package. Plus the idiot who originally leaked the "Atlantis to Interzone (Crystal Castles Mix)" recorded it at 33 RPM, which is a real shame since it sounds excellent at regular speed.
Great band, anyway, lots of fun, blah, blah, blah, [insert more praise here]... |
klaxons. brilliance. a breath of fresh air to an industry wrapped up in post-libertines mediocricy.

yes the nu-rave movement has become the new trend, but its a trend thats exciting and original, who would of enivaged the day when 60s garage rock meets early 90s rave? And i love the libertines, they were a band that, like the klaxons, freshened up the scene. Incidently, i think datarock are better than the klaxons.

And I don't really associate Datarock and Klaxons with each other, but I still think Klaxons are better. |
didnt refresh the scene? tell me,. who was setting british music alight before the libs? im talking 1-3 years before. And datarock have a smiliar root in dance music with that added bit of aggression and rock influence. Much like the Klaxons.

Now I'm not British, but as an outsider looking in, it's not like Britain was in dire need of a band like the Libertines. In fact, I actually think the British Indie scene was in better shape before they came around. In popularity, sure, they're very important, but in terms of actual quality, talent, and range of influence, not really. The Libertines only really get the attention because at the time Britpop was still dying out, and despite basically just being a continuation of it (along with most popular British bands these days, IMHO), they seemed to be "new" and "exciting." Honestly, if it hadn't been for the so-called "Garage Rock Revival" going on the US and no new popular music genre forming in the UK, would the Libertines really be as big as they are? |
my point exactly. There was no real scene of prominance in the UK at the time. Bands such as feeder, travis, stereophonics, coldplay and david gray were the notable acts in the industry. Oasis and blur were on a creative decline, radiohead were sporadic in thier releases and the Britpop genre was ebbing away. Boybands like Nsync were amassing huge success and the popstars TV show was taking britian by storm. Music looked **** for the new generation. The UK was looking to America for the latest acts and developements - which we dont like doing! Then the Libs came along and we had a group of our own who were fresh and exciting. They've been very influential to bands for the last couple of years so i dont quite understand what your saying there? Yes they carried on the britpop movement - they are a popular british band after all. But they also had an accessibilty through various guerilla gigs that fans could latch onto. They gave us back controversy, excitement and edge to our industry for a couple of years. Anyway, the point is i believe klaxons are doing similiar now, not as much maybe - but they and others making it all a bit exciting again.

I'm really looking forward to the concert, can anyone upload anything? I can't download programmes on this computer, and they only have a few songs on their myspace...
|
They're playing in my local venue but it sold out like proper fast.
i know the promoters and stuff, might try and get some free tickets, haha |
Reminds me of a spazzed up Happy Mondays.
Thats a good thing BTW |
im glad you said "spazzed up" before the other heinous words you typed otherwise i would have kicked you in the scrotum.
|
I'm checking out Hadouken now. They have worked together with Klaxons, and they sound somewhat simmilar. If you like klaxons, I really recommend them!

Just wrote this review for them for the radio station:
Klaxons has followed up their highly acclaimed Xan Valleys EP with their new Myths of the Near Future. Fortunately, they have lived up to their hype producing an infectiously powerful CD, which borders between the approval of indie listeners and rave dancers. What you get from this album is a culmination of clear-cut melodies intermingled with club energy. Songs are varied considerably compared to their EP because the band has seemed to catapult their sound into an agglomeration of indie pop and trance. It is easy for anyone to say what this band could have been with their Xan Valleys EP hype, but please take the CD how it is. It truly distinguishes itself as one of the most pleasantly varied debut CDs of the year. Heavy rotation for these guys. |
Saw these guys at the core club, tiny venue they rocked
|
Going to see them this July (I think). I love the album, especially Gravity's Rainbow and Golden Skans.
|
^ You really should, just watch out for flying fists...
I got hit when I saw them. |

Flying fists
Yes I do remember it being a bit volatile but I think the crowd were just throwing shapes rather than fists, You'll love it.

.. more people hate on them already. |
Do you hate every (British) band that enjoys any kind of commercial success a priori?
|
I have to admitt, I was wrong about this band.
|
Klaxons have managed to creep up to the top spot in my overall charts on last.fm and I don't know how they've done it. I listened to Myths Of The Near Future lots but not more than I listened to Muse, surely? :p: I blame a broken scrobbler.
In December this year I think I'll be naming Myths Of The Near Future as my favourite album of 2007 but there's still a good few months to go so I shouldn't make my mind up yet. Haven't seen much about favourite tracks in this thread. Anybody? Mine are Forgotten Works and Two Receivers (what a great way to start an album). |
