I think both bands had two excellent albums to start their careers and then largely got boring after that. I probably like Blur slightly more, but I may be prejudiced since the Gallaghers are such idiots.

How come noone mentions Gorillaz?
Blur are Gorillaz.
I agree Blur have done more versatile stuff like Gorillaz and Oasis are like the Stones and that is what they want to be.

I have to create my own debate I should be a moderator by now.
Blur done well with Gorillaz.

Gorillaz are Blur minus everyone from Blur except Albarn and plus a bunch of new people.

Similarly, I guess, Wings are the Beatles.

Wrong my minstrel.
Alex plays with Goriilaz live and in studio and so does one of the others.
Wrong you are.
Plus Damon wrote the songs with Blur not the others Minstrel.
Noel wrote Oasis and without Noel there would be no Oasis even the name was his idea.
Whereas my singing minstrel the Beatles had 3 songwriters.
I look forward to your reply Minstrel once you have recapped and considered who drives a band.

Neither Alex James nor "one of the others" are credited as being part of the group, so I'm completely unconvinced any of them besides Albarn are seriously involved with the Gorillaz.

Based on what do you give Albarn sole credit for their songs? All the members are given composer credit. That doesn't mean all of them were equally involved, but I've certainly read that Coxon was an important member of the song-writing.

And with the Gorillaz, Albarn is assuredly not the sole composer. The entire point of the Gorillaz is that they are all contributors to creating the music.

So the idea that Albarn, alone, makes the Gorillaz essentially identical to Blur is absurd. Albarn wasn't the sole driver of Blur and he's definitely not the sole driver of Gorillaz. The Gorillaz sound nothing like Blur because the song-writing dynamics are different with all the completely different members.

Thanks. I've reflected and find your points without merit.

Alex James & Dave Rowntree have got absolutly nothing to do with Gorillaz.

Morgan Nicholls & Cass Browne who used to be in Senseless Things plays bass & drums for them.

The only Ex Blur person involved is Simon Tong who replaced Coxon on Think Tank.

Fair enough minstrel.
You win this time.
But I shall return more powerful then before and reek havoc on your opinions.
You gotta understand that co written credits are for distribution of monies not for actual ideas.
I have watched them perform with Alex on bass.
Everyone concerned is sure Albarn wrote Blurs songs. If you then construe that adding a bass line or drums makes you a co writer then you see why the Smiths broke up.
That is why Noel made no bones about getting sole credit for songwriting and all the monies from sales.
Remember that a band is not famous for someone adding a bass line or doing what they are told to do but for a song been played on the radio while people drive and work.
Albarn is the force behind these acts and if he wasn't there there wouldn't be a Blur or a Gorillaz.
Your point about Wings shows what I mean, it was paul who made wings sell millions but I am sure the others contributed somewhat and helped the songs.
But without Sir Paul (bless him) Wings would not have even got a record deal or existed.
Do you see?
Alex James said that Albarn was the genius and they were like sessions players same as Noel with Oasis.
Although Liam helped his band no end.

Alex is now a farmer and has nothing to do with the music scene. He has'nt since the early 2000's.
