Default Indie Challenges and Concerns

As an independent music artist, what do you find to be the most difficult area in the development of your musical career? Production, promotion, distribution or other task and concerns, name what you find to be the greatest challenge(s) that you face.

With my experiance through friends, I would say production. It is the most expensive and you've got to have something to get started with. If you have talent, people will notice, and you will get the promotion. Fans talking about you (music forums, the scene, almost anywhere) will help in the promotion and distribution as well.
