Silversun Pickups

good indie rock, awesome drummer ( completely subjective, but his style suits me incredibly..i swear, asians are the best drummers! the von bondies, bloc party...awesome! )...regretfully, the lead singer only uses Dave Grohl-type screaming in one song, even though almost every song begs for it...the guitars and bass sourta sound grunge-like..anyways, check it out and report back here...

I like it. Very catchy.

MoonlitSunshine 08-03-2006 04:31 PM

Yeah they're pretty damn good!

Alo 08-03-2006 04:33 PM

Oooh, sounds cool! I'm ordering a cd when my money gets paid. ^^'

Does anyone have Carnavas for upload? I'm almost ashamed to admit it but I'm addicted to Lazy Eye.

coffeeshop 06-09-2007 10:10 AM

Just listening to their album, I'm really liking it. Strong influences from My Bloody Valentine.

Nosmada 01-16-2008 11:45 AM

love these guys, Carnavas is probably my favorite album right now. Well thought out twinkle is a great song to check out.

the-ceej 01-16-2008 06:42 PM

Lazy Eye is solid

Lizzie 01-16-2008 08:31 PM

eh, there all right, nothing special

Zer0 01-17-2008 04:05 AM

Great band both live and on record. Saw them play support to Foo Fighters in Dublin and they won over the crowd by the end of the set. I agree their drummer and bassist are fantastic

Nosmada 01-20-2008 07:01 PM

Other songs i would recommend by them, Kissing Families, and comeback kid both not on carnavas from album Pikul.

Joshee 01-24-2008 03:28 AM

Saw them live. [=
Great band.

pourmeanother 03-30-2009 08:36 PM

Should I pick up "Carnavas"? I haven't heard much, but what little I have sounded alright. Wondering if this album is worth picking up on a whim, or not. Also, I guess they have a new one coming out in a few weeks... anybody heard it? Should I just wait for the new stuff?

Gah, so many questions...

scottsy 03-30-2009 08:42 PM

I was actually wondering that myself... worth it on the strength of liking one song or not? Or waste of money? I really like the whole vibe about the band though... sound kinda mid nineties pumpkins and bit emo - ish, come to think of it if the whole album were like the one song I've heard I'd probably love it....

SATCHMO 03-30-2009 08:51 PM

I really liked Lazy Eye, their single off Carnavas, so I'm D/L the album right now. I'll let you know what I think.

pourmeanother 03-30-2009 08:56 PM

Excellent. Looking for a solid album, if not I'll just grab a single or two.

scottsy 03-30-2009 09:17 PM

Look forward to hearing your thoughts SATCHMO...

henry 03-30-2009 10:51 PM

It's good, but I really think it really bears another listen. I can tell its going to be one of those albums that grows on me, and It's definitely one of those albums that picks up momentum as it goes along. a bit monotonous in the beginning. There's not a lot of diversity as far as song structure and instrument timbre, but hey Indie rock isn't really my fave genre. I would def. recommend it to an indie rock fan. BTW the production quality is outstanding if that's important to you.

SydMM 03-31-2009 08:49 AM

Lazy Eye is incredible and Panic Switch is pretty cool. As for a whole album, I don't think I would buy one just yet.

jackhammer 03-31-2009 09:33 AM

I think Carnavas is a great album. It has a very slight shoegaze feel to it too. once you get past the vocals it's damn solid. There new one is out isn't it? Need to get hold of that.

gotjuice 03-31-2009 02:28 PM

Yeah Carnavas was a damn fine album. Swoon comes out on the 14th, it has leaked though. Thanks for reminding me, I've been on a post-rock tear and forgot this was coming out so soon.

I didn't think the vocals were too hard to get over at all... it's just surprising when you find out that it's not a chick singing is all.

kthedrummer 03-31-2009 02:53 PM

They have a new album coming out April 14 called Swoon btw. And it has leaked according to wikipedia.

gotjuice 03-31-2009 02:57 PM

Yeah I'm listening to it right now for the first time...I really like it so far. Great opening song.

henry 03-31-2009 09:51 PM

if anyone wants the Swoon album, i have it uploaded

It's not female vocals?@?!?

SATCHMO 04-01-2009 08:29 AM

There's female backup vocals, but no it's a guy singing lead

jackhammer 04-01-2009 02:07 PM

Just listening to the new album now. A little underwhelming on first listen.

Brad Stengel 04-01-2009 02:25 PM

Eh, they sound like diet smashing pumpkins.

henry 04-01-2009 02:27 PM

Nothing will ever be as good as Carnavas though.

I'm gonna wait until the CD comes out, there's nothing more exciting than getting your grubby hands on the real thing :D i'm really looking forward to this album, Carnavas and Pikul EP rock my socks off.

henry 04-01-2009 07:17 PM

Carnavas is great. After giving Swoon a couple of listens, it is actually a pretty good album. Not as good as Carnavas which is just fantastic, but its not bad either. I hope that you enjoy listening to it when you buy the LP! :D

pourmeanother 04-02-2009 12:04 AM

Not too shabby. Nothing spectacular, but a nice addition I gotta say. Comes across a little redundant, like I almost feel like it's just one hour long song.

scottsy 04-02-2009 07:28 PM

So I am taking it Carnavas would be the best way to go if I were interested in the band...

henry 04-02-2009 09:26 PM

yes definately

scottsy 04-02-2009 09:30 PM

Thanks... I'll make sure if I buy something by the band, I'll start there...

debaserr 04-06-2009 05:26 AM

ugh i listened to swoon once and i dont know if im gonna try it again. i loved carnavas by the way

scottsy 04-06-2009 03:53 PM

What makes Swoon so much the lesser? Is it just more of the same formula? A bad change of direction? Now I am just kinda curious!

debaserr 04-06-2009 03:58 PM

i dunno i just got bored with swoon.
