03 Magic Hours on How Strange, Innocence
|
love EITS and most the mentioned bands above. The ones I don't i'll check out asap.
Seeing EITS later this month in fact as they are opening for Four Tet in the UK Tour. Much excitment!! Making all my friends go to as the venue is 5 mins away so have sold something 25 tickets for it - lol. |
Words or phrases can't express my thoughts on Explosions in the Sky. They are so moving. Best instrumental, indie band I have ever heard. First Breath After Coma
|
They're amazing. The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place is wonderfully written.
|
good band, seen them twice.
not my favourite of the genre, have to be in the right mood to listen to them.. i do have alot of their stuff though, including the Travels in Constants CD they did last year. How Strange, Innocence is by far the best they've done in my opinion. |
Every band mentioned in this thread = win
EITS need to tour soon. :( I just saw a silver mount zion a few weeks ago. Sooooooooooooooo amazing. |
have recently started listening to them after alot of you on here recommended them to me and they are really amazing
i have to say that their name put me off but they really are worthy of everyone hearing them |
put you off? its an awesome name... typical post-rock though, epic and pretentious :D

EitS is awesome. My favorite is 'Song for our Fathers'
|
Post rock it may be...but it is superb music. Pretentious? There's nothing more pretentious than 80's prog rock!
Seriously, excellent music. I've got three albums and some miscellaneous stuff, and it's all superb. Long live post rock! That's what I say! |
i just hope post-rock bands continue to make an effort to do something more.. theres alot of the genre around that sound like they're trying to be either Godspeed or Explosions.
though there are also loads of good ones, so its cool at the mo :) if anyone is really interested in the genre, join up to this post-rock forum - its really friendly and active and theres masses of downlaods. http://afterthepostrock.com |

Explosions in the sky is f'ing amazing. If you like them you should check out Do make say think. They are another indie band and they just sound amazing. Mogwai is another good one, or appleseedcast :)
|
just saw God is An Astronaut and have their album/ep. Quite similar to EITS, a bit less intense tho...
|
Explosions In the Sky is AMAZING ; )
I saw Explosions... live couple years back in a small festival in Stockholm, Sweden(into where I did a small journey ). They totally played my socks off. I had just bought Earth... before cause I knew I was going to see them and also because I allready listened to Mogwai , Godspeed...and other bands which were somewhat associated.
Really liked their music. I had time for few spins before I was allready in the gig. But I was not prepared. Live one can see them what they were all about. I've never seen instrumental band be so into what they were doing. I don't know if they are always as intensive as they were ( hopefully ) . You could see that they were experiencing the music with every molecule of their body. They were all moving constantly with the feeling, the guitarist was hovering like a tree in wind , in strange almost shamanistic circle movements, the drummer was giving every beat like waves hitting the shore, you know they would arrive in their right moments. And as they were physically somewhat distant to each other you could feel that they were close. I could have never imagined that watching instrumental band could be so captivating. The feeling was there and the audience joined. It was truly beautiful. And if someone who's into them don't know Travels ,,, I advice to check it out, quit interesting. It's not an actual album, more of an experiment I guess. They were improvising one song each day, that was the concept. It's much calmer if compared to Earth... fexp. but it's pure stuff . I think Honesty is one of the key words with this bands. I imagine if they didn't feel their music would shine anymore they would throw their instruments away and head home,,, So go see them Live while they are still out there , , , ; ) |
New song, I'm not sure what I think of it

havent heard the new song... dunno if i really want to check it out either. as Post-rock bands go they're definately one of the bands whos records can never compare to how they are live and i dont tend to enjoy them much on record.
