That's pretty much where I'm at. His early stuff just has this certain appeal to it that the later albums kind of fail to achieve, but honestly I like it all. It's hard to rate the albums in any kind of order because it changes every time I listen to him, just depends what's on. I think New Moon is the way to go though if you're looking for the material that's been released after his death. It's a double disc full of songs you'd expect to find on Either/Or, Roman Candle.. etc. I like From A Basement but its just not the same.

It's a great song. I was actually pretty disappointed when I heard the Figure 8 version.

The difference between New Moon and FABOTH for me is the latter is more cohesive; it actually sounds like an album, whereas New Moon sounds like what it is - a collection of unreleased material. Thats taking nothing away from it at all, as it just so happens the songs are great, but i personally listen to the two for different reasons and i think one gives you something the other doesnt. This is why i dont, or at least try not to, compare them.

I tend to pick songs here and there from New Moon. I don't really listen to the album as a whole.

I definitely think Either/Or is the best. I own it on vinyl. Epic.

I really like Ballad of Big Nothing, and Everything Means Nothing to Me

Either/Or is the best one for me.

Never really listened to his S/T, and I've never heard Roman Candle.

Wonder if they match up to Either/Or and XO.

Why? You don't like him? The guy was a genius...a tortured genius, but a genius nonetheless.

Not in terms of accessibility, but there's great stuff on there nonetheless.

Heard his self titled once and listened to a bit of RC if I recall rightly, and I see what you mean about the accessibility. I instantly liked XO and Either/Or.

What are your favourite tracks from his S/T and RC? Roman Candle (the track) was a beautiful song, filled with sadness and anger.
