The Unicorns

As far as indie is concerned in the past five years The Unicorns are pretty noteworthy. I've only heard, highly recommend, and am willing to upload for anyone who asks, Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone. If anyone has, torrents suffice because I have been unsuccesful looking, Unicorns are People too or Unicorns 2014 you'd make me happy.

Yeah, Ive got Who will cut our hair when we're gone..and its a really good album. The Unicorns own.

cardboard adolescent 10-23-2006 06:23 PM

I heard like two songs and they didn't do much for me so I didn't bother.

Urban Hat€monger ? 10-23-2006 06:29 PM

I heard them a while back and couldn`t really get into it.

It`s like they were saying to me 'Look we`re indie and we`ve listened to Pavement albums'

'Great .... Got anything else'?

'No not really , sorry'

cardboard adolescent 10-23-2006 06:42 PM

Indeed. Especially with the hype around them, I was expecting more.

enemyat_thesix 10-23-2006 08:51 PM

'jellybones' is classic.

Laces Out Dan! 10-23-2006 11:20 PM

Isnt it called JellyCones?

swim 10-24-2006 05:28 AM

Nope.

Expletive Deleted 10-25-2006 08:03 PM

Great band, too bad they went on to form the awful, awful Islands.

Islands are pretty good. I heard they're atrocious live though.

I saw them live last night. They were ****ing awesome. The two rap acts that opened for them were great too.

shandapanda 10-30-2006 01:25 PM

i kinda like islands, except for that weird song where they did a weird rapping kinda thing...wth??

Pink Moon 10-30-2006 02:51 PM

They're nothing great. Listenable but, eh.

Still looking, Swim?

swim 01-16-2007 07:17 PM

Not really. I don't listen to them as much and I've heard bad things so if you have it I won't ask you to up it but I won't say no to an already upped link.

_Spinning_ 01-16-2007 07:19 PM

I can give you a torrent link.

swim 01-16-2007 07:21 PM

Ay, I don't use torrents anymore-I did when I wrote that-thanks anyway.

_Spinning_ 01-16-2007 07:22 PM

Pssha.

Alright then. :)

Mouseketeer 01-18-2007 12:02 PM

I like the Unicorns quite a lot and I own Who Will Cut Our Hair... I should probably listen to it some more. I like 'Jellycones' and 'Child Star'.

Soundgardener 01-19-2007 11:52 PM

I love the Unicorns with all of my heart.

Mouseketeer 01-20-2007 11:32 AM

Oh, and Islands are awesome btw.

debaserr 08-28-2008 08:21 PM

think this needs a bump. their only full album is quite amazing imo. its definetly one of my favorites all-time. they take a couple listens to swallow, but once you get past that you realize how frickin great they are.

Minstrel 08-28-2008 09:12 PM

I think the Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? was absolutely brilliant. Fantastic pop music that doesn't adhere to the typical verse/chorus/verse structure. Each song keeps changing, moving from hook to hook. A really tremendous and inventive album.

Return To The Sea, under the Islands moniker, is nearly as strong and their recent Arm's Way is only a bit below that level, but a lot more emotionally resonant.

I absolutely love them, regardless of their name.

debaserr 08-28-2008 09:15 PM

i actually had return to the sea when it first came out and didnt listen to the unicorns till about 6 months ago. islands arent on the same lvl imo.

imogen24 08-29-2008 05:22 PM

I prefer Les OS, but jellybones is one of their better ones from who will cut our hair when we're gone.

Minstrel 08-29-2008 06:03 PM

My favourite track from Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? is "Tuff Luff." The penny whistle parade sound is bizarrely great. The idea of it sounds overly cutesy, but the execution of it is quite great, in my opinion.

debaserr 08-30-2008 08:27 PM

my favorite songs off the album are prolly: les os, innoculate the innocuous, child star, i dont wanna die, and tuff ghost

Hart 09-07-2008 03:16 PM

The entire album is great.

debaserr 09-07-2008 06:01 PM

its amazing, but i would say that "tuff luff" and "lets get known" suck

henry 09-15-2008 08:08 PM

they from montreal, cheya

rebkranz 09-17-2008 11:56 AM

Aww, i love The Unicorns. I think they're totally unique. Jellybones is a great song, as is Innoculate the Innocuous. The flute in the beginning of Jellybones makes me smile...

DragHustler 09-17-2008 02:38 PM

I sure wish they weren't split up, their music is entertaining. The Haunted House was hilarious and I was born a Unicorn is a song that I can wake up to and be in a decent mood to. ;p

rebkranz 09-17-2008 03:18 PM

Agreed. :)

rebkranz 09-17-2008 03:18 PM

trace87, your avatar is freaking hilarious.

debaserr 09-17-2008 04:23 PM

thanks. but as i said earlier my favorite songs are: les os, innoculate the innocuous, child star, i dont wanna die, and tuff ghost

Sneer 01-13-2009 01:08 PM

Bump

Who Will Cut Our Hair... is one of my favourite albums at the moment.
