Wolf Parade

Oh how I love their low-fi, indie sounds.

Does anybody else like?

If you've never heard download 'Grounds For Divorce', you won't regret it. Do what's right people.

Expletive Deleted 12-04-2006 04:17 PM

"Grounds for Divorce" is my least favorite song of theirs.

adidasss 12-04-2006 04:19 PM

the lead singer's reputation is growing seriously thin with his increasingly crappy side projects....i want another WP album and i want it now!!

Loser 05-03-2007 06:02 PM

Been listening to them....I have an album and it's pretty descent :)

sleepy jack 05-03-2007 08:28 PM

I so prefer Sunset Rubdown over them, not gonna lie.

Expletive Deleted 05-03-2007 08:56 PM

From what I've heard of WP related projects...

Frog Eyes > Wolf Parade > Hot Hot Heat > Atlas Strategic > Sunset Rubdown > Handsome Furs > Swan Lake

adidasss 05-04-2007 02:33 AM

Hot hot heat?

just for kicks 05-04-2007 03:56 AM

i prefer hot hot heat from wolf parade, but wolf parade are still good

adidasss 05-04-2007 05:21 AM

Yes but, what's the connection?

Loser 05-04-2007 12:01 PM

Same record label.

IndieShotYou 05-04-2007 03:41 PM

No, One of the members of Wolf Parade used to be in Hot Hot Heat. I'm not sure who it is though. Anyways, Apologies is awesome!

Expletive Deleted 05-04-2007 06:19 PM

Dante DeCaro was in Hot Hot Heat before he joined Wold Parade.

adidasss 04-01-2008 02:31 AM

http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...ower/hyper.gifThe new album is called Kissing the beehive and it's out June 17th.http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...ower/hyper.gif

sleepy jack 04-01-2008 03:29 AM

Spencer Krug probably has no life whatsoever.

Piss Me Off 04-01-2008 04:45 AM

I'm looking forward to it, about time too.

sleepy jack 04-01-2008 01:05 PM

What do you mean its about time? Spencer Krug's released four albums since Apologies to the Queen Mary came out and collaborated on two others and Boeckner's released one too. Granted they were with different bands but it's hardly fair to imply they've been lazy

Piss Me Off 04-02-2008 03:02 AM

Its about time they released a new Wolf Parade album?

sleepy jack 04-02-2008 03:05 AM

That's better D: <

Apologies to the Queen Mary is the best thing he's made so I'd like to see him spending more time on this particular project...

from a wolf parade message board via atease:

"So, I got the chance to talk to Dan quite a bit tonight and we got along quite well. This man is so awesome and really social!

First when he came out I asked him, "So, how many questions about Wolf Parade will you be able to tolerate tonight?" Just joking because I figure a lot of people like to talk to him about Wolf Parade. He just says that I can ask as many as I want. So, here are the facts he gave me:

* June 17 is the official release date.

* The album is indeed 9 tracks. But when I asked him if they were long, he said they were.

* There is no official name for the album yet. He said he gave Kissing the Beehive to pitchfork just to **** with them. Same deal with Pardon My Blues (not sure if that one was to pitchfork as well; I didn't catch it).

* Subpop wants to give copies to people but there's still no album name. Dan thinks that the album will end up being leaked without having a name! He also said that he doesn't even care if it's leaked since they don't even make much money at all from them. I'd definitely expect an April leak...

* Handsome Furs has a lot of new material! They're planning to add other members to the band. A drummer for sure to replace the drum machine but not sure who else. He said it'd be close friends, though.

* After Handsome Furs gets done, they're going to do some Wolf Parade and then get a new album of Handsome Furs material out, and then...

* They're going to start recording more Wolf Parade! He actually said that now I was the only person who knew this. Pretty sweet! I might have the order slightly wrong on when they're doing more HF and WP stuff, but they are! I think I got it right, though.

* I asked him about the old new Wolf Parade songs. You know, the ones they said they were going to shelve. He said they ARE planning on releasing these on EPs or something! I'm ecstatic.

* I asked him if he has a wolf obsession because I do and I've always wanted to know this. Well, he's not obsessed with wolves, but he did say he likes them!

* Has a custom made guitar by First Act or something like that. Doesn't really matter to me but some guy by me wanted to know if I knew what kind of guitar that was and I know nothing about it so I just asked Dan for him. ...and Dan goes crazy on guitar! So fun to watch.

adidasss 04-04-2008 02:33 AM

Sweet!
Kinda sad to hear him say he doesn't care if it leaks because they don't make any money off of them...now I kinda wanna buy the album...:(

sleepy jack 04-04-2008 02:37 AM

I don't doubt that claim but I'm kind of shocked he didn't make much off of Queen Mary it was a very popular release.

enemyat_thesix 04-29-2008 11:00 AM

i have the new album.

adidasss 04-29-2008 11:40 AM

Upload, bitch!

I'm pretty sure it's not a first act guitar...I think those are the guitars they sell at wallmart.

that one dude 04-29-2008 03:19 PM

k, im downloading the new album... i think, ha. im gonna report back after i give it a listen.

reeeealllly excited.

adidasss 04-29-2008 03:56 PM

For anyone interested, you can find the upload link in their last.fm shoutbox...

Piss Me Off 04-29-2008 04:32 PM

Coolio, i'll check it out at some point.

that one dude 04-29-2008 04:34 PM

im listening and it's not as captivating as "Apologies" was for me. I'll probably end up loving it after a couple more listens, but I was immediately blown away by "Apologies". It sounds like someone sucked out all of their energy, kind of dissapointing.

Piss Me Off 04-30-2008 09:24 AM

Had a listen, its nice enough. Songs like California Dreamer and Call It A Ritual have more of an edge to them, i really like An Animal In Your Care as well. That said, its nowhere near as immediate as the last one.

adidasss 04-30-2008 09:45 AM

I wonder if we would be saying that if this had been their debut...given their specific sound.

My favorites for now are Fine young cannibals and Language city. The second half of Kissing the beehive is pretty spectacular too...

sleepy jack 04-30-2008 05:10 PM

I absolutely adore the piano in the beginning of Call It A Ritual.

After listening I think my favorite song is "An Animal In Your Care" it doesn't feel as emotionally connectable (new word) as Apologies and I prefer the production on Apologies also. It's still a completely solid release though I think Piss Me Off is right it's just nowhere near as immediate.

Billy_Martin 05-02-2008 10:31 PM

Great great band.

debaserr 08-29-2008 12:49 AM

yea i thought at mount zoomer was not as good as apologies...i think they are missing the production of mr isaac brock to be honest. that said, its still a strong effort and better than 90% of the new stuff out there imo

adidasss 02-11-2009 05:37 PM

Ok seriously, did anyone else know there are two singers in this group? I still can't tell which one is singing what, their styles are so freaking similar.

Oh and yes, I'm giving At mount zoomer a second chance...:|

Sneer 02-11-2009 05:43 PM

Frog Eyes > Wolf Parade

adidasss 02-11-2009 05:48 PM

Lol.

Frog Eyes sounds too much like Sunset Rubdown, which was too claustrophobic and cacophanous (thesaurus.com is a great tool) for me. I like apologies, and for awhile it was one of my favourite albums, but mount zoomer is just too meh. Maybe they'll get it together again on their third release, if their 10 thousand side projects dont get them too tied up.

adidasss 02-11-2009 05:59 PM

Fucking word. I'm tired of these assholes wasting their creativity on every goddamned thing that suits their fancy.

Oh and you misspelled cacophonous...;)
