Seems a little similar to Deerhoof? You mean, the name? Of what possible significance could that be?
Anyway, yeah, this Deerhunter album rocks. They've actually had a plethora of highly positive critical reviews, not so hard to find (only way I heard about them in the first place). I'll link to a few, if anybody's interested: Deerhunter: Cryptograms: Pitchfork Record Review Deerhunter . Cryptograms [prefixmag review] Tiny Mix Tapes Reviews: Deerhunter - Cryptograms |

Deerhunter are okay, I guess. I haven't really listened to anything that's convinced me that they're worthwhile. Pitchfork loves the hell out of them, though. But then again, Pitchfork loves The Hold Steady. |

Deerhunter are actually my favorite band right now. A title I've only held for 9-10 other bands in my lifetime. |

The only reason I heard about this band was because I subscribed to an EqualVision email list so I would be up to date on The Fall of Troy and Dustin Kensrue releases. Then they kept seending me stuff about this band and I checked them out.... and I wasn't too impressed. It was a fine for a listen, but I wouldn't buy an album. It becomes trite after about 5 songs.
