Default Deerhunter

Did a search & came up with nothing.
Their Cryptograms album is tipped for big things in 2007 and i`m enjoying it a lot.

So how can I convince you to check them out?
I know , i`ll copy & paste some of the sh*t reveiws they`ve had that they posted on their myspace site.......

Quote:
Actual Testimony: "Tonight I saw your group in Nashville. Please, STOP MAKING (what might be concieved as) MUSIC! You have no melodies, there was no songwriting skills involved, lack of chord structures, AND your songs are pathetically too long. It's an embarassment you opened for the yeahyeahyeahs. I turned my back to your group after 2 songs...and I remainded that way until your wannabe art student asses left. I would tell everyone I know not to see you...but it looks as if your front man is about to die. Seriously, get that half-ass man some help. You try to pull off this "shock and awe" pretentious bull-**** and its horrible! Iggy Pop, Velvet Underground, and Black Flag, all used some "shock and awe" BUT they had the MUSIC to back it up! You guys need to either quit for a year or learn how to play your damn intruments! I felt raped of my money tonight. I was ashamed to even play music because you guys are on this earth. I've seen over 100 shows in my life and I've seen bad, believe me, but you guys take the cake.Everyone around me was also disgusted. Stop, please just stop. If I see your flier in my town, I will take it down, if you are booked anywhere within a state of me I will publically speak and tell people not to go. You are a pile of **** in this "thing" we call the music business. Go get a job. ****in' wannabe's man....****in wannabe's. In the words of a brilliant band called Travis..."Peace the **** out!" -Pissed and ashamed" ************************************************** **************
"...the 2nd act 'Deerhunter' did not endear themselves to me. I'm not sure if it was because their Mom's were in t"he audiance, or because they were high or what... I'm trying to make a point of not being negative in this medium, but man did they suck. For me. So, maybe you liked them. I respect that. I will say that I was tempted to buy their album though... but only so that the lead singer could get something to eat. Like... twelve steaks." ************************************************** **************
"Then a psychadelic/punk-esque band called Deerhunter came on. They were uh entertaining. The lead singer came out with a some lacy women's sleep dress and a shirt that said "I am not Anorexic". And this is him. He kept on false fellating the other band members. And he got a boner twice. The girls behind me said we were "witnessing the destruction of a human being". (i got a boner? what the **** is this kid talking about??? mom, if you are reading this: i totally did not get a boner.) ************************************************** *************
"..Oh, but the best was saved for last, for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were ****ing amazing! They damn well needed to be amazing after the group before them (Deerhunter) was headed by the skinniest man on the face of the Earth who appeared so clearly coked out or on something much much worse that their set could not be described as anything other than completely atrocious. Indecipherable mumbling over some very forgettable music. The lead singer was my god totally out of it and looked like he was about to collapse and die." ************************************************** *************
"Deer Hunter played second. Unfortunately, this was very much like sitting through a high school talent show. They definitely begged the question of what is music and what is white noise, but in a very bad way. The lead singer looked like he could fall over and die from hunger at any point during the set." ************************************************** **************
Personally speaking if a fan of a band like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs thinks something is sh*t i`m more likely to check it out.

Seems a little similar to Deerhoof? You mean, the name? Of what possible significance could that be?

Anyway, yeah, this Deerhunter album rocks. They've actually had a plethora of highly positive critical reviews, not so hard to find (only way I heard about them in the first place). I'll link to a few, if anybody's interested:

The only reason I heard about this band was because I subscribed to an EqualVision email list so I would be up to date on The Fall of Troy and Dustin Kensrue releases. Then they kept seending me stuff about this band and I checked them out.... and I wasn't too impressed. It was a fine for a listen, but I wouldn't buy an album. It becomes trite after about 5 songs.

Only thing that's actually grabbed me and not let go so far this year. Lead singer looks like he could give decent head too.
