i searched and found no matches so i guess i'll start a thread, plus i hope this is in the right forum....but anywayz

i thought she woz American?

she was born in russia, hence the name of her album, soviet kitsch. she moved the us when she was like 9 or something....

I don't think anyones heard her. The review I read said a cooler tori amos. To me, that says she plays piano and sings like Rilo Kiley and im all set with that.

well actually she does some pretty crazy things with the piano. i wouldn't really compare her to tori amos(that i've heard) other than saying that they are all great female artists, but i'm not that good at describing.

i tried to find a link without success but try to listen.. it's well worth it in my opinion.....

Give me a song to try, I play piano so make it something thats more than your average coldplay chords song.

Her songs don't like they're that difficult to play but i can only play like one song so i don't know very much but her song 'Lacrimosa' sounds like it could be challenging. it sounds a little faster.

Ok im sampling this because I couldn't find your suggestion. This to me is Bjork with piano. Where as Bjork uses whatever cracked out instrument she can find, Specktor seems to steal her vocal signitures and play sap ballads. Im sorry, but im still not a fan.

I fricking adore her at the moment.
She moves me, she makes me laugh, she writes brilliant pop songs.
Criminally underrated.

I have her latest CD Begin to Hope.
Hotel Song is probably the best song off that.

But my favorite song by her is probably Ghost of Corporate Future.

And if you're gonna bother to by a CD by her I highly recommend Soviet Kitsch.
It's just all around better if you ask me

She's brillant! I watched parts of her concerts on Youtube, and she's also an equally good performer.

Don't have any of her other albums*yet* but Begin to Hope has me converted. Fidelity, Better and Samson are really catchy and all round good.

I iwsh her new cd didn't blow so much ass. I lovvveeeeeee her older stuff.

She is kick ass!!

i'm torn between her and fiona. regina certainly has smarter lyrics...

she's cute, hasagreat voice. i saw her play just about a month ago in toronto.

I saw her live Thursday night without having heard any of her stuff. It was good, but I think I would've enjoyed it more if I'd known a little more about her before going in.

I just heard Fielity this weekend when I was in NY, That song is pretty ****ing amazing.

That vocal control is alarmingly well done.

she can def. do some stuff with those vocal chords of hers.

I just saw the vid for her song Fidelity and it I'm disappointed.
Instead of paint, they should've had llike some sorta knife throwing contest

my friend recently turned me on to her. her songs, with me ,at least, are really hit or miss. i either love them or hate them. overall, she's all right to listen to, once in a while, to change my playlist up a bit.

I don't get all the hype, meh.

I definately agree that her songs are hit or miss but the hits just seem to make the misses fade away.
I think On the Radio is my favorite.

Nah her best song by far is "Us" and a great video too. I love the pretty little Ruscan. (Russian American). Tho i know her her profile is building over her in the UK but i secretly want her to stay a little more obscure and keep her too myself!! Muahahaha!!

her songs can be fun until you listen to them a couple times and get bored of them

Just bought her new album and the one that came out before it. its so good. does anyone else like her stuff?

We've had a few threads on her before but yeah she's amazing :)

i think she has talent but her song on the radio just annoys me
