Dave Matthews Band
Hey all-I'm looking for fans that are just as big of fans of Dave Matthews as my husband I. We go to a concert (or 2) each year ( would be a lot more if we could afford it) and so far we've been to 8. Members of the Warehouse for almost 4 years now...anyone out there? If anyone's somewhat not familiar with Dave and his crew I would definitely recommend their "Under the Table and Dreaming" CD-it's great with a lot of variety and a lot of hits, so I'm sure you've heard at least 1-2 of the songs. If you love John Mayer, you need to give it a try and you can't beat the concerts going to anyone else.

DMB rocks. I love their stuff. Extremly original and a nice break from the hardcore I listen to. Halloween is my favorite song by them, especially the live version.
|
Although I have numerous favorites, my favorite as of right now is #41, followed by Say Goodbye, Crush, and Two Step. And yes, he is just awing live. I would strongly recommend it to everyone. Before I went to my first concert, I didn't mind them. Once I experienced them live, I'll never stop going.

Dave Matthews Band
I'm both shocked and appaled that there is no DMB thread already. I can give credit to this band for making me a fan of music, as they are the first band that I truly liked and could just sit in my room and listen to. I have all of their albums with the exception of The Best of What's Around and Live at Red Rocks.
Favorite albums: Before These Crowded Streets Live at Folsom Field Busted Stuff Reccomended tracks: Ants Marching Dancing Nancies Crush The Stone Halloween Big Eyed Fish JTR |

And the Brits hate this guy. I'd disagree but he keeps putting out reasons for me not to. |

he was on House. Other than that I liked him a lot about 7 years ago, then found better music.

I never got DMB. a woman I worked with burned me 3-4 of his cds a few years back. I gave them an honest listen, too, to see if maybe I was missing something. I just didn't see what she thought was so interesting about it.
It's not irritating to me, but it doesn't do anything for me, either. Just a matter of musical tastes, I suppose. |

dmb is the greatest band ever if you disagree i will fight you name one other band that performss better live and has 13 live trax albums, and other complimentary live recordings, not to mention 9 studio albums, oh and also shows with tim reynolds, their the best hands down, try to reply to this thinking you have a better band you will be laughed at because you'll probably say something like the devil wears prada ha

I used to be a minor fan, but I've since kind of moved on. Nothing against them. My interest kind of peaked early, and I went into other stuff shortly after.
|
I don't like Dave Mathews
I don't know what it is, but I don't like his singing or music. He's talented, I guess I just can't relate.
|
Worst. college. rock. ever. He makes me pine for the eighties and Robyn Hitch****.
|
i'm not a huge fan but space between is one of my favorite songs
|
DMB is proof to me that college kids are stupid.
|
LeRoi Moore, the sax player, has just died. I have to say i'm a little sad, he was like an anchor to a past that didn't suck for the band.
I'd check foul play, they've been wanting to be U2 for awhile now. Theres no sax player in U2. |
RIP LeRoi
I personally have found DMB to be enjoyable, and while not my favorite band, they definetly kick the **** out of plenty of bands out there. They have somewhat of an original sound (Jazz infused "College Rock") and everyone in the band is very talented individual. The drummer Carter Beauford has one of the sickest drumsets I have ever seen and he knows how to use it. With 9 studio albums (about 6 of which I like) and 3 that are critically acclaimed, I fail to see where all this hate comes from. And about them wanting to be U2 for a while now... give me a ****ing break. Dave Matthews could never under any circumstance become as lame as Bono.... never. |
Wow, I had a ton of DMB in a hidden file that my iTunes wouldnt play.
But I got it going now and my love for them/him has been reborn. Ahhh, today is going to be great effin day, got some brews, its sunny and warm, and gots me some DMB. |
No offense to anyone, but I hate DMB. I think he has a real annoying voice and a stupid face....sorry thrice

I'm looking for a decent version of their "All along the watch tower." I had one forever ago that had a real long, slow lead through the song and then jammed out on "And the wind began to howl."
I've been searching Youtube and everything is terrible, especially the Woodstock 1999 version. |

DMB fan
I count myself as a fan, but for very specific reasons...
He's damn prolific He's damn good in concert, in an unconventional way and... Carter Beauford Other than that he's kind of an average schmuk who writes a lot of songs on acoustic guitar. Maybe that's the reason he's popular? |
Dave Matthews Band amazes me... not because they are great musicians, but because I am amazed how a band that is about 3/4 black somehow manage to make the whitest of music ever made.

Couldn't have said it better myself. |
I don't know where 75% comes from. They were, at one time, 3/5th black (insert racist, civil war joke here) and are now half.
Beyond that, I don't know what about them says white. When I think white, I think Funeral Party, Vampire Weekend, Winger, and Jefferson Starship. |
