Thumbs up Decemberists

Ok, it is 3 in the morning and I just finished the Decemberists album "Picaresque". This is my third time listening to it, and i've always considered myself a fan of the Decemberists. But for some reason this time I listened to it , it really stuck. Its a huge step up from their other work in terms of conceptual writing and overal sound. Just want to see what anyone else out there thinks of this album compared to their others.

It's the only one of their albums I've listened to, and I dunno, his voice grates on me a little. It's a decent record, just not something I'd praise too highly.

I have "Her Majesty, The Decemberists" and it's amazing. Great music for lyrics fanatics.

It's an acquired taste. The sea shanty stuff is kinda peculiar to say the least. I want to read up on exactly where they're coming from with all that.

The new album is quite a treat, definitely one of my favorite releases this year. If nothing else, check out "The Mariner's Revenge Song" off of it.

Definitely their best album, though they still haven't topped "Here I Dreamt I Was An Architect" song-wise.

I've downloaded some of their stuff and liked it, and I just borrowed three of their CDs from a friend at school, so I'm about to give them a listen.

I'd have to say that I rather enjoy the Decemberists. I've only heard four songs by them, but those four songs are really quite splendid.
