According to one of my friends it was one of the best of 2006. I thought that was BS, actually I thought her entire list was pretty much Bull, her music taste are pretty fake and crappy. I agree with Swim, got really bland after a while.

I'm pretty new to this kind of music, but i have a real appreciation for this band. I really enjoy their style and once I listen to the cd a few more times I can tell its something that I will be able to enjoy years down the road.

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.

Thumbs up The Decemberists

What do you think of this band? To begin with I really wasn't convinced as I wasn't so into Colin Meloy's vocal sound, but after listening to Summersong and O, Valencia I was rather captivated.
Great band though, I love the Video for 16 Military Wives- the Political slant is rather humourous and yet serious.
so any thoughts?

I think my favourite song by them is Odalisque. It's got some excellent organ. I'm gonna have to listen to it now.
