mudhoney are good but yes, many better bands in the early 90s. to say mudhoney are the only band you need to know is laughable.

I guess I am just realizing how many people here have no clue how good that early 90s music was. You should definitely check some of it out.

i'm almost positive you have no fucking clue what you're talking about.

for one, Mudhoney were terrible. even Mark Arm said that the best thing they put out was their very first single, everything after that was pretty much old hat.

and another, the early '90s extended far beyond Seattle's dim grasp. there was the nascent post-hardcore scene coming out of Washington, with bands like Drive Like Jehu, Unwound, Jawbox, and Fugazi driving the hilt.

or better yet, everyone has their own opinion. as far as grunge went it all started with Mudhoney and everything else fell off from there.

are you almost positive or positive? And once again, if it is a basis of opinion, where is your pot? because you don't have one to piss in if that is all you have to say.

It's not as great as Beyond but it's still a really solid late-career entry into the DJr. cannon.

What is the best Dino Jr. album to start a noob off with?

I can't decide if I should have them start with the best (YLAOM) or more mainstream (Green Mind) or something fresher (Farm). Each has their merits and drawbacks, YLAOM is really lo-fi and hard-edged, Green Mind simply doesn't represent their best work, and Farm is really ****ing long and could be cumbersome...

I started out with You're Living All Over Me and its remained my favorite by them ever since. I've heard all the stuff, and I would have to say it really depends on the other things the said person is into. As you said, each album may have drawbacks depending on the persons personally preference to music. Such as on YLAOM I really enjoy that lo-fi and hard edged sound, but once more it probably just goes back to my personal preference. I would just see what the person liked in other music and try to make a basis off that. That's normally what I do when both giving and receiving music recommendations.

Certainly a fan of this band and I also really enjoy J Mascis's work in anything. (He drummed for two metal bands, Upsidedown Cross which maybe a little less known than his current band, Witch. Plus Deep Wound)

I started off with Bug, then moved on to Your Living All Over Me and Dinosaur. As with any other long established band it's best to start off with their 'classic' material, but then again somebody could dive straight into Farm and think it's awesome, so it's hard to know.
