I have to say I disagree with this. I wouldn't call Its Blitz more mainstream, just different. Normally, Nick Zinner would be on guitar moreso than on this record. I think YYY took a risk with this record, but in the end, they have proven that it is one worth taking. They have mostly left their art-punk in the dust for the new record, but that doesnt make it worse. Softshock is by far my favorite song on the record, also.

Skeletons 07-01-2009 01:50 PM

I love this album and I admire the YYY's for stepping out of their comfort zone I agree with alot of you I prefer their "Fever To Tell" screaming-craziness but nothing lasts forever does it so this is why I took "It's Blitz!" as it is and enjoy it because you never know how much you might miss something until it's gone.
My favourite tracks off the album are:
"Heads Will Roll" - mainstream or not this was amazing live.
"Hysteric" - A really beautiful song.
"Dull Life" - Old School YYY's

Omaha 07-02-2009 01:36 AM

hysteric is another great one too

+81 07-04-2009 06:45 PM

The performance on Jimmy Fallon the other day was awesome.

DearJenny 07-07-2009 06:04 PM

Fever to Tell was the best. I'm kinda liking the new song "Zero" though.

natmarcus 07-08-2009 01:35 PM

I think It's Blitz is definitely a lot different and disappointing in some ways but there are some tracks on there that are just terrific, like "Soft Shock" and "Zero"

if there are any really big fans of the Yeah yeah yeahs you should look around for the KO at home recordings. i found them after some searching on mega upload and its pretty cool.
they are recordings that Karen O did for a guy from tv on the radio they got stolen and put online and passed around. its mostly just here doing cool stuff with an acoustic and singing but there's also some harmonica and other stuff in there.

That actually sounds fairly cool. Shes got one of the best three voices in rock right now, though I can't imagine how it sounds with harmonica.

You mean that guy from TVOTR (David Sitek) who produced all of the YYY's music?
Anyway, yeah, as a fan of KO's voice that sounds highly interesting to me.

sweet_nothing 07-25-2009 07:13 PM

The only thing they have in common sound wise is they have that same garage rock sound, Yeah Yeah Yeahs are good and fun while the Strokes are so dull even their singer sounds like he's falling asleep.

adidasss 07-26-2009 02:10 AM

^^ Lol, so true...(:

Ive just got It's Blitz!, and its really good. From what Ive heard so far it's more dance and poppish than anything else Ive ever heard from them (I only have their first album).

Shame it only lasted one EP.

yeah i was quite surprised to find out karen o was a huge teanage jesus and the jerks fan, also this may be kind of naughty but try downloading the acoustic album she made for that TOTR dude that leaked, it is called KO at home and is one of my most listened to albums on my ipod, it a great chance to hear her voice in the rawest form. Track number 7 (there are no song names) is absolutely phenomenal seriously it is my favorite song by Karen O :)

Oh we're on the same page. Isis was a monster.

I totally remember thinking that, consistently great although my favorite song was 10X10, have you heard fever to tell? watch this music vid for Y control off of it, it is really awesome YouTube - Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Y Control: Uncut Version, Closed Captioned

The Monkey 07-29-2009 10:18 AM

I think Show Your Bones beats both their debut and It's Blitz, though both of them, especially the latter, has its moments. I haven't got any of their EPs, aren't more of the songs there issued on the albums later?

SpecialCookies 08-02-2009 05:17 AM

I've got all albums and two of their EP's.

It's Blitz! is amazing, very pop/dancey compared to their older stuff. As good as It's Blitz! is, my favourite recording would have to be Isis. Love this band, hope they continue their work for years to come. :yeah:

AMUZAK 08-05-2009 02:08 AM

Yeah Yeah Yeahs... I've heard some pretty shaking dance remixes of their songs.

Dim Mak 08-06-2009 03:28 PM

Personally I think Gold Lion was ahead of its time. I would say the majority of their fan base emerged when Maps came out. Jus sayin.....

I fail to see how gold lion was ahead of its time I mean the album is only like 3 years old

FETCHER. 08-13-2009 02:12 PM

I have never actually listened to them, they seem popular, al download the album n give it a bash :D

ExopoliticalIdealist 08-22-2009 02:51 PM

My opinion is that "a fever to tell" was their best c.d,
Either way it's a fun band to see live, "mystery girl" and "art star" are some of my favs.

scottsy 08-25-2009 10:04 PM

I've liked all the singles of theirs that I've heard, but I have never fully been compelled to get or download an album by them... they just don't seem to hold my attention beyond the odd radio song here and there....

franzfergidon 08-26-2009 01:11 PM

Fever to Tell is pretty good. Not much of a YYYs fan, but that's a pretty solid album.

scottsy 08-26-2009 11:00 PM

If I ever were to download something by them, then I guess Fever to Tell would be it... I have heard quite a few tracks off it and people seem to recommend it, so I am guessing it would make a good starting point...

Seems pretty apt to me. Cox and YYYs are hipster buddies and another hipster from their area made the film. What's strange?

sweet_nothing 08-27-2009 09:11 PM

They've replaced Beastie Boys as one of the headliners for ACL, I'm super excited to see them live. I saw them on tv playing the Bonnaroo festival and they put on a great show there, so I'm hoping for more of the same from them in October. Anyone here seen them live?

Oh yeah, and its a show. The other two are kinda there, but Karen O comes at you like the 4th of July.

scottsy 08-27-2009 09:36 PM

It always seemed to me that at least performance wise Karen O was the face of the Yeah Yeahs.... she seems to have way more standout appeal than the other members of the band... either that or this is the image the media has forcefed me and I just swallowed it whole...

no I think thats intentional. She's the only one who wears colors other than black. The other two members - nick and the other guy - dress like the background to avoid being visible.

scottsy 08-28-2009 09:22 PM

I am guessing they like it that way then? I am kinda thinking that's just the way they divided the roles in their band...

TapSurface 08-29-2009 11:41 PM

Their newest album.. definately the first two songs are GREAT!

Baron Somebody 09-05-2009 08:55 AM

Yeah Yeah Yeah's best song would probably be...god this is going to be so hard...so I'll just compile a list :p:

The Sweets
Fancy
Y Control
Kiss Kiss
Cold Light (am I the only one who likes that song?)
Dragon Queen
Art Star
Dudley
Way Out

I think you get the point, but I could go on and on for hours...

adidasss 06-01-2022 09:15 AM

New song with a rather underwhelming participation of Perfume Genius?

New album will be with us shortly. Hope it's better than Mosquito. Eeek.

jadis 06-04-2022 07:15 AM

That first album was ****ing great

A couple new ones. Not too bad, not anything that blew my socks off. I hope I grow into them.
