Yeah Yeah Yeahs

First 10 pages, no thread:

I heard the new EP "IS IS" at Newbury the other day and I have to say that songs 2-5 are probably the best value I've ever had on music. The first track leaves a little to be desired especially when compared to the other four tracks. but the (title track?) "isis" might be the best thing I've heard all year. Do yourselves a favor, pick it up.

Bane of your existence 07-31-2007 08:58 AM

Best value?

I love the YYY's. Fever to Tell owned.

TheBig3 07-31-2007 09:13 AM

5 songs, 1 thats decent, 4 that are amazing and it was 6 bucks. Thats pretty damned good in my opinion. Im saying if you're going to spend money on music, don't blow it on something thats crap. Grab this EP.

Bane of your existence 07-31-2007 09:17 AM

6 bucks?? That's great for a fairly popular band. I'm pretty excited about checking it out now. However, Prince trumps them with the value thing.

adidasss 08-01-2007 03:03 AM

I dunno, I downloaded it based on your suggestion, but none of the songs come close to anything on Show your bones...this is based on one listen, but still...I love the music, but the vocals somehow don't go anywhere...

TheBig3 08-01-2007 07:35 AM

Try it again, I really can't say enough good things.

adidasss 08-01-2007 08:22 AM

I think it's the fact that these songs are basically pre-SYB, I'm not sure why they decided to release them now, their sound has moved on a tad. This seems like a step backward. It's not bad, Down boy is quite good, but it has an overall Fever to tell B-side feel to it.

MHDTV 08-02-2007 09:27 PM

How do you do the LastFM thing?

pheurton 08-07-2007 09:27 AM

I love gold lion.

adidasss 02-20-2009 03:14 AM

New song is out, listen to it here: New Yeah Yeah Yeahs - "Zero" - Stereogum

Piss Me Off 02-20-2009 06:10 AM

Quite nice! I like the synths but i hope the whole album isn't like this, the main attraction of the YYY's to me is Nick Zinner's guitar.

TheBig3 02-20-2009 07:27 AM

That sounds like its from the killers. And I think if Brandon Flowers sang that, it would saound better.

This is not the YYY's I know and love. Is Is was so good...why this? =(

that one dude 02-20-2009 08:38 PM

Karen, I want those screams, moans and groans back. NOW!

I wish they would have stuck with the overall sound of Isis for this album. It was a happy medium between Fever to Tell and Show Your Bones. "Isis" (the song) is probably one of the best things they've done to date! Karen's growls and Nick's swirling guitar riffs are phenomenal on that track!

Hopefully "Zero" isn't a complete indication of the overall sound of this next record.

happybarcode 02-22-2009 03:40 AM

yeah yeah yeahs oxegen 09!! can not wait!!x

Oh we're on the same page. Isis was a monster.

that one dude 02-22-2009 10:22 AM

"Heads Will Roll"
zSHARE - yeah yeah yeahs - heads will roll.mp3

You guys, it isn't looking so good =(

Bulldog 02-22-2009 12:03 PM

I liked their debut, even if it tries my patience in places. I never really bothered to keep following them after that though. The new song sounds decent enough - kudos to them for trying something new, however successful it does or doesn't turn out to be.

Really? Nice one :D

Havent got the new EP yet but will get it this week. Fever To Tell kicked serious ass back in 2003

TheBig3 02-22-2009 04:46 PM

their honestly something you should go see live. I think as far as rock shows go their ruthless.

there aren't many bands coming out that own like this. If they ever play with the stripes it i'll be the tour of the year.

Piss Me Off 02-25-2009 05:34 AM

Wheeeeey.

that one dude 02-26-2009 09:19 PM

This new album does not make me feel sexy.

adidasss 02-27-2009 06:02 AM

It's also made me rediscover Is Is which I didn't pay much attention to when it came out. Down boy and 10x10 are some bitchin' tunes...

TheBig3 02-27-2009 09:10 AM

You still don't care for the title track, huh? Damn shame old man.

Pornographie Nouveau 02-27-2009 09:39 AM

I wouldn't **** Karen O ever. And I'm a horny 14 year old with an asian fetish. That says something.

Hate them.

I'll be serious then... Are their later albums any better than their first one?

Urban Hat€monger ? 02-27-2009 12:43 PM

I quite liked them when they were a no wave inspired garage rock band.

Shame it only lasted one EP.

I think show your bones and isis are the better of the outputs. I didn't care too much for the first album save for "date with the night." And this new track sounds awful.

Might give them a spin.

Karin O is a big inspiration to me! She is so cool! :D

She has a fantastic voice. That much I'll say. The band's music isn't all bad either. That EP from 2007 which consisted of a few old tracks - what was is called - ah yes, Is Is. Superb. Loved it. Short and to the point. Never realy bothered with the albums though. Probably worth a shot.

jackhammer 03-08-2009 01:32 PM

I think Show Your Bones is a great album but the polished sound may have lost them a few fans when compared to the more abrasive debut. I still need to hear Is Is sometime too.

EDGE 03-22-2009 01:20 AM

New Album isn't bad. Nothing special, however.

adidasss 03-23-2009 05:01 AM

They're coming to fucking Croatia this summer!!!http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...er/jerkoff.gif

SydMM 03-23-2009 09:17 AM

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are cool. I'm liking what I'm hearing but don't have an album yet.

Neil Loots 03-25-2009 04:43 PM

I have heard a few good things (and a few bad things) about this band, without having listened to them at all. Look forward to giving the new album a spin.

Goldlion 03-26-2009 06:51 PM

There new album is a lot more mainstream.

insinkerator 03-29-2009 02:51 AM

I was watching maps on youtube, damn that is a powerful video/song
