Dresden Dolls

I just wanna know what people think of the Dresden Dolls. I like them, but I'm open to opinions.

Ensemble 04-03-2005 09:18 PM

They sound pretty great! (I would get their CD in a heartbeat if it had no parental advisory on it.) :(

Man you're life must suck, well the Dresden Dolls are from Boston (where im from) and so im obligated to approve highly, its just the way it goes. But honestly, their skills on their instruments are astounding.

Get iTunes, listen to "War Pigs."

I'm against ipod things. Sorry.

anti_poptart_chik 04-03-2005 09:49 PM

coin slot operated boy is like the best, i love the way they sing that song too it really works for me

TheBig3 04-04-2005 04:28 PM

It's just coin operated boy, and To AmyLeeFan; its not an iPod, its a service that allows downloads for .99 cents a song. its legal, and the files are uncorrupted.

Why are you against it? Don't feel like giving artists money?

Ensemble 04-04-2005 08:08 PM

^If someone wants music, they should by the CD.
(I'm Ensemble.)

Um, alright, don't know what that means or why I was.

TheBig3 04-30-2005 08:38 PM

Dresden Dolls

I just bought their album off iTunes (cause sometimes you want a CD at 10:30 pm) and I can't imagine a more refreshing act that has come out in the past 3 years.

Do yourself a favor and pick it up, and if you're lucky enough, catch them opening for NIN. Thats one show I wish was at a staidum.

Sneer 05-04-2005 01:16 PM

gonna rehash this, just heard the self titled album, one word comes to mind- wow. ****ing hell this band is so refreshing and generally amazing. the ability on the instruments and the vocals is so so so good.

Squee 05-24-2005 05:28 PM

The Dresden Dolls

=3 They are terribly good. I love her singing and they're just amazing. Did anyone see them in concert recently?

PopIsDead 05-26-2005 06:14 PM

There are quite a few Dresden Dolls threads in the past few months. Look what people said in those.

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 05-26-2005 09:02 PM

muahha 05-26-2005 09:29 PM

i was the dresden dolls with nin 2 days ago. i didn't like them until i saw them live. awesome show. very entertaining.

TheBig3 05-28-2005 08:06 AM

What made you dislike them before the live show?

Soundgardener 07-24-2005 04:00 PM

The Dresden Dolls are great, despite the lyrics about dil*os. It sure is a great soundtrack to listen to over the show "Being Bobby Brown" at 4:00 in the morning...

Am I right?

PhishFood 08-03-2005 11:06 AM

Yop i got it....

Imonlydancing 08-03-2005 12:29 PM

hmm, my friends seen them live, and met them, she says theyre pretty good live. yah.

The Indie Bar Kid 08-03-2005 07:05 PM

Pretty innovative really... Its nice to see a bit of originality and they really put the effort into the image in a really natural way. I do love a bit of pantomime melodrama in my indie, me!

TheBig3 08-03-2005 07:07 PM

I don't know about innovative. But who else thought, lets do caber music from the 20's with some rock thrown in. No one, and thats innovative. I mean, the drums crash like zeppelin, and the piano wails like frank black got a sex change and worshipped tori amos. (mentioned because of her piano chops, not because shes a girl playing piano)

PhishFood 08-03-2005 08:31 PM

yeah the piano is beautiful.....

Sneer 08-04-2005 06:58 AM

very zany, innovative, passionate and skilled. with added graphic lyric content. good band.

DearJenny 03-14-2006 06:31 PM

nowhere to talk....Dresden Dolls

Where would one talk about Dresden Dolls since Dresden Dolls does not have an obvious genre of music? Maybe I could talk about them right here. They are amazing and its one of the best lives shows I've ever been to. Waiting for the new CD on April 16th(I think).
~court~

motionofmusic 03-16-2006 12:13 AM

I saw them with Nine Inch Nails it was definitely an interesting show.

DearJenny 03-16-2006 07:37 PM

Sex Changes, Amsterdam, Bad Habit and Good Day compete for my favorite.

[bruise.pristine] 03-17-2006 10:51 AM

i love bad habit & girl anachronism.

Sneer 03-17-2006 10:55 AM

very talented band. i like them alot. i concur, good day is their best song.

TheBig3 03-18-2006 06:13 PM

I just want ot throw this out there in the wake of recent British patriotism, The Dresdon Dolls are just another shining example of Boston badassery.

claudioismybitch 03-21-2006 06:48 PM

dude you got me into them, great live show. amanda throwing beer on the audience lol. and yes the pits are frightening but you gotta get over that, shes a good musician. but the jeep song is by far the best song of their's hands down.

You've never said she was a good musician. Remember, I was the one saying that I thought they were one of the most talented and innovative bands out there.

Yes, Virginia... In stores April 18th :)

DearJenny 03-31-2006 11:12 AM

****ing right! I started a thread like this in general a while ago. I've been in love with this band since they released their first CD. I finally got to see them live back in October and they have an amazing live show. And when Brian takes his shirt off-watch out! I could go on and on but I think I'll just stop here.

claudioismybitch 04-01-2006 08:33 PM

i saw them i concert.....and.....and this bald pale lady juggeled wigs. thats why they kick ass.

Alo 07-02-2006 11:37 PM

I love them , I'm bumping this thread because I was just looking through their pictures again. They really have some great stuff!

Raine 07-02-2006 11:40 PM

I've heard their song Coin Operated Boy. By far one of my favorite songs ever. Only ebcause it wasn't what I was expecting after looking at a pic of the band.
I don't think I like them enough to buy their CD but I'll definitely burn it from my friend who is obsessed wit them.
Any songs in particular that I should listen out for specifically?

Alo 07-02-2006 11:46 PM

^I like Dirty Business and Modern Moonlight a lot.

Tourniquet-x 07-03-2006 01:04 PM

Bad Habit, Girl Anachronism, Half Jack and Missed Me are my favourite songs, they're ace and yes they are a refreshing act, also they do their own thing and are different to the things I normally listen to. Great I tell you! :D
