My friends who don't like Funeral and Neon Bible like this album.

their new album has actually made them one of my favourite bands, i appreciate them far more than i ever did now i've heard the suburbs.
|
i'm yet to listen to the suburbs, funeral and neon bible are outstanding though. waiting til i get my laptop back til i listen to the suburbs. never really liked them much 'til i saw them sub to the chili's at leeds 07, they were fucking awesome and blew RHCP off the stage.

It took me a few listens, but I think I've warmed up to the new one. Kind of the same thing that happened with Neon Bible--wasn't really that big a fan at first but it grew on me kind of fast.
Sprawl II is great, as is City With No Children. |
Liking The Subuurbs a lot, very enjoyable and probably a more sustainable direction than a second Funeral/Neon Bible.

I personally think The Suburbs maintains about the same (high) quality as Neon Bible and Funeral... I think we have actually stumbled on a rarity here.... a consistently great album producing band... now these are hard to come by these days...
On first listen, The Suburbs is already gaining "potential favorite release of this year" status... |
Considering Funeral appeared great at first and then stumbled into regular amiability after ten listens, maybe this one is the opposite? I couldn't help but feel ridiculously bored during The Suburbs. Hopefully it'll grow into something interesting.

anyone else wish it was a little bit shorter? cut out some of the weaker tracks?
I honestly cannot stand Month of May, Half Light (1&2), or Empty Room. Sprawl II and We Used To Wait are still fantastic though. |
Month of May, Half Light II and Empty Room are my favorites :/
