I don't know if anybody saw 'Friday Night with Jonathan Ross' last night, but after the Arcade Fire performed 'No Cars Go' win stormed off stage and broke the camera with his guitar.

Was it just an act, or was he generally pissed at something... anybody know? 'Wossy' even came on stage acting a little apprehensive at the end.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 06-30-2007 06:47 AM

nah, they did keep the car running.
no cars go is better :)
he didnt seem genuinely pissed..
just being dramatic cause he can & hes got funny hair.

pheurton 06-30-2007 07:23 AM

Even though they make immacualte music, God they're ugly.

It was a great performance, although i preferred Iggy and the Stooges recent one.. :)

Maybe their alleged physical ugliness has something to do with the beauty of the music.

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-30-2007 09:11 PM

And here's their camera smashing antics on Wossy's show last night....

adidasss 07-01-2007 02:36 AM

Awesome track...the camera smashing was a bit out of the blue...

I was a bit miffed as well,
though I couldn't keep my eyes off of the keyboard player I'm sure they dressed him up as an elf.

Mouseketeer 10-02-2007 02:34 PM

This seems a bit interesting, what do ya'll think it is?

Also, is anybody going to or have seen them on their current tour. I'm going on Halloween, should be fun and maybe they'll even dress up!

Sparky 10-03-2007 08:53 PM

i did, great show. Played at a small little **** place too :)

but yeah, gotta remember october 6th now

FranzF7 10-04-2007 01:56 PM

I love them and 'm going to see them at he end of the month and i cant wait

DrinkInTillYouLoveMe 10-04-2007 08:17 PM

September 28, I drove 4 hours with a friend from St. Louis to Kansas to see these beasts of burden live. Best decision I have ever made. I would drop hundreds of dollars to see this priceless band in concert. It was the best few hours of my life and I'm actually happy to say that I could probably never top the happiness I felt.

flunked_scenester 10-06-2007 06:36 AM

this band gives me the creeps, in a very very good way. just heard of them a month ago when a music junkie told me about them... niceeee

=ladyface= 10-07-2007 04:56 PM

I was genuinely excited when Funeral was released in the UK and for weeks I would listen to little else. I don't listen so much anymore and I don't get the same feeling as I did before but I still love the album very much.

When Neon Bible came around I didn't really care. I think I had too many other new albums to concentrate on.

Mouseketeer 10-08-2007 12:06 PM

Yes, I don't think Neon Bible has had as much 'fame' as Funeral did, although theoretically it probably should have considering it was their second album and everybody wanted to hear their follow up.

I haven't listened to it much, I really should before I go see them. I need to listen to their EP too which is meant to be good.

=ladyface= 10-08-2007 12:10 PM

I would've expected the second one to be the big one too. By that time they were a household name.

I kept getting songs from the first Arcade Fire EP on last.fm last summer but I can't remember whether I liked them or not.

Mouseketeer 10-08-2007 12:12 PM

1. Old Flame
2. I'm Sleeping In A Submarine
3. No Cars Go
4. The Woodland National Anthem
5. My Heart Is An Apple
6. Headlight Look Like Diamonds
7. Vampires Forest Fire

That's the tracklisting, it's actually in my house somewhere so I must dig it out. No Cars Go will be interesting to listen to if it's any different.

And may I ask a personal question? Are you a lady or do you just have a lady's face?

=ladyface= 10-08-2007 12:19 PM

Whoa, I only recognise a couple of those titles.

I'm actually a lady and I have a lady's face. I just like the word 'face' so I stuck it in there. :p:

adidasss 11-11-2007 10:11 AM

Saw them last night in Vienna...best gig I've ever been to...

Me>>everyone else.

Sha'ap! Btw, they had the same set list they played in Manchester and they played Still ill by The Smiths in the encore.... I'd never heard the song before but I knew it was theirs...*smug*

Tell me about it, but no, unfortunately some band called Wild light opened...not very memorable...:\

cabangbangq 07-17-2008 09:01 PM

Oh my god. I just got Funeral and it is amazing. Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) is easily my favorite song on this album so far.

But seriously. This album is getting played by me everyday, and that is not something that happens often.

Mr Sensitive 07-19-2008 11:52 AM

Jesus, you're slightly behind.

But yeah, it's a cool album.

attack attack 07-21-2008 12:57 AM

I went to an Arcade Fire show to see one of their openers, Wolf Parade. Though Wolf Parade has a couple really good albums, they blew it live. In a huge way. I was going to leave during arcade fire's set. Instead, I found myself staring wide-eyed, drooling on the ground for the entire length of their set.

Omaha 07-14-2009 02:54 PM

When the **** is this band going to make a new record!? New record=new tour.

i need to see this band

you are truely lucky attack attack

Miltamec Soundsquinaez 07-14-2009 03:16 PM

Thx for bumping this, one of my new fav bands, although I've yet to hear Neon Bible.

I'd say they rock live just from watching the vids on Youtube.

LOL @ the guy who said 'they're creepy..in a really good way'. WOW. that's weird. I guess naming their album Funeral, and having kind of haunting lyrics, music can make you think that. Their music is upbeat and very down at the same time a la Radiohead, Beck, Bright Eyes.

Zer0 07-14-2009 03:30 PM

They could be releasing an album 'sooner than expected' according to the band, hopefully it'll come out this year. You really need to hear Neon Bible, it's just as good as Funeral. Ocean Of Noise and No Cars Go are as memorable as you can get.

I saw them at a festival 2 years ago when they were touring Neon Bible, i was actually slightly disappointed to be honest. I though it would be the greatest thing i'd ever witnessed but there was just something missing, they didn't really connect well with the crowd. It would be better to see them in an arena than an open-air stage i guess.

I will; I've heard Funeral is better but they're both classic, hope that's true.

I fukking get my music from Wal-Mart cuz I drive a truck, and never really get to go to music stores, but sometimes they have like Radiohead, Marley, Nirvana. I'm always a little surprised that they actually sell stuff other than Miley, the Jonas Bros. and Trace Adkins.

If you do get Neon Bible get in on CD rather than download, the sleave art inside really is as cool as f**k. Adds another dimension to the music as well.

I never download...........I just occasionally turn a Hastings or Barnes & Noble into a truck stop.

Much better to play CD's while I'm driving than set my laptop up front with me, especially in Chicago, and cities that treat their streets like a fukking offroad adventure.

million dollar basher 07-15-2009 04:04 PM

Neon Bible

Great album....their best in my opinion.

x Cheez iT 07-15-2009 09:26 PM

Yeah, like the big question is, The Funeral or Neon Bible? Both albums are so exceptional, it is hard to choose. I will listen to Neon Bible and be like, "Well, I kinda like this better..." Then I will listen to The Funeral, and think differently.

sweet_nothing 07-15-2009 09:36 PM

I've just started getting into this band. As a whole I'd say Neon Bible is better, but in terms of more memorable tracks Funeral is better. So far my favorite tracks by them are Rebellion (I dont care how many cool points I lose with the hipster crowd), Neighborhood #3, and Black Mirror. And yeh I really can't get into Régine Chassagne voice.

Exactly as I feel. Neon Bible is a much better "start to finish" album, but funeral defnitely has it with the individual songs. Maybe the next album will be the best of both of both worlds

Yeah, I am the same way. I was surprised to learn that Bowie had a lot to do with their rise to quasi-fame. That had to have been such a neat experience to work with a guy of Bowie's stature.

PartisanRanger 07-17-2009 12:48 PM

Funeral is my favorite of the albums. IMO, Keep the Car Running is the only track on Neon Bible up to the standard of the better songs on Funeral.

Her voice is kind of interesting. I actually really like it in "The Woodlands" off of the Arcade Fire EP.

Intervention is quite an epic song as well.

They put on a great show when I saw them live - I'd say their performance was at least equal to that of RATM who also played the same night. You can't argue with pure anthemic energy.
