From Emo to indie (fan, Radiohead, artists, bands, songs)

I mostly listen to emo bands, but I'm willing to give this indie thing a try. Can anyone tell me a couple of songs to sample by some artists? I'm a fan of Joan of Arc and I'm getting into Xiu Xiu.
